We're very pleased to announce a mobile-optimized version of Ricochet.  Just point your smartphone's browser to...

m.ricochet.com

 m.ricochet.com

... and you'll see Ricochet in all its narrow-columned, sans serif glory.  The release also swaps in an HTML5-based audio player for better compatibility across devices.

Our goal, of course, is to remove every possible barrier between you and the conversation & collaboration on Ricochet. So, now you'll be able to respond to Ricochet's tug during your day's inevitable pauses: say, when the Occupy movement takes it to The Man by shutting down your burg's bus system, or if your Davos-bound G5 is getting topped off with carbon offset credits. If it's wait time, it's Ricochet time.

This is brand spanking new, and we're aware of a few bugs.  Please consider it a beta product, and we'd appreciate it if you could report any new bugs to support@ricochet.com.  Be sure to include your browser version and operation system.

Delighted - but unless it's just me, it seems to have a hard time dealing with logging in. When I put in my credentials it continues to treat me as a visitor only.

Actually, you couldn't.  That was a front-end caching bug, but the back end would not have allowed you to post under another person's name.  The thought does, however, create a twinkle in many a mischievous person's eyes. ;-)

I think I have fixed the caching bug.  If anyone sees it again, please email support@ricochet.com.

I do like it. But please make me a promise....never program the main website to automatically redirect me to the mobile site simply because I am using a mobile OS. I hate when websites don't let me make the choice on my own.

The plan (probably in early January) is to give handheld users an option to switch to the mobile site when they hit the regular site.  The user could set it up to always or never redirect.  And on the mobile site will be a link to take users to the regular site.

Will that work?
