Ricochet in Crabtown
A good time was had by all. Mollie Hemingway and her husband drove up from DC, and we all gathered at Ropewalk Tavern in Federal Hill, which is festooned with right-thinking mottoes and more pictures of Ronald Reagan than Peter Robinson has even in his wildest dreams.
Thanks, especially, to Casey Way for picking the perfect spot for a Ricochet meetup.
Here we all are:
And here was the perfect Ricochet environment:

Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
I keep waiting for an Iowa meetup, but of course the weather is not cooperating, and there would really have to be some sort of event happening in Iowa in, say, January to make it all worthwhile.
For the life of me, I can't think of anything, can you?

What a delightful group of people! If you have a chance to Rico-Meet in your town, by all means do so. My thanks to Rob and the gang.

Colorado Springs or even Denver is about as central as you can get. If the inspiration hits, I'm game. Jack Quin's Irish tavern is a good possibility.

Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
Wow, I love the Tavern. I definitely hope I get a chance to visit it someday soon.
KC, you are so right about how delightful Ricochet people are. When we did it here in Seattle it was so easy and comfortable to talk about everything from religion to politics to family to hobbies. Effortless, enjoyable discussion thru and thru.
Please tell us who was there -- unless there is real desire on some people's parts not to be known -- you know face to avatar. I also notice that some people were hiding. ?

Fun! Rob, I live about 20 minutes from Venice. Why is there never a meetup when you're home?

Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
What a great time! (Although the picture makes us look glum...) How refreshing to sit in the Governor Robert Ehrlich Dining Room which features a beautiful portrait of President and Mrs. Reagan and other great Reagan memorabilia. Food was good, drinks were good, but best of all -- the company was wonderful. Thanks, Rob, for suggesting and hosting. And thanks to our youngest attendee, Casey, for the venue suggestion!

Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
The Ropewalk is the best! I spent election night of 2010 there. It is an island of Conservatism in a sea of Democrats. The steamed shrimp is superb.
BTW - Why no picture of the full size statue of the Gipper?

Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
Definitely jealous! After the Thanksgiving dinner in liberal family hell, I sure could use a dinner and conversation with some fellow Ricochet members. Anyone wanting to get together in the Kansas City area? If so, please contact me.

Dang! Caught me napping. Next time!
Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
My husband and I will use any excuse to go to Baltimore, but this was a particularly good one. Had a great time speaking with Sandy (and her husband Larry!), Calico Captive, Casey Way, KC Mulville, Richard O'Shea, GLDIII and (the Category 1 lurker) Bushel Basket. Definitely wanted to hear more about Richard O'Shea's line of work, though. I demand a member post on the matter.

Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
Let me second that.
It's funny to hear someone say that they don't post because of <whatever reason>, but then they effortlessly reel off what amounts to an interesting, coherent, and insightful post ... off the top of their head.

Good times, you guys. And KC, I'll try to work on some posts in the near future. Maybe I should just dictate them into my computer. I like talking more than typing, preferably with a Fat Tire amber in hand.
Re: Ricochet in Crabtown
No problem! I secretly recorded you all night long! Just kidding.

Rob, don't you think it's about time for our SoCal meetup?
