Three Ricoteers

Welcome to the debut episode of Ricochet Roundtable, the show with a name that is destined to change. This week, our hosts Mark Steyn, Jonah Goldberg and Rob Long riff on Muslim doughnuts, the budget battles, why Lindsay Graham is persona non grata, and the unique, teachable moment Mark's son recently experienced. Trust us, you've never heard a podcast quite like this one.

Agreed - I had considered doing so for quite a while & this pushed me over the edge also.

Technical question: I don't have iTunes and I do have a feed aggregator, and I subscribed to the feed for this new podcast.  But when I went to download it, lo and behold the podcast wasn't attached! There was a link to the podcast, but that would mean I'd have to play it on my computer... and the whole point of downloading it is to put it on my mp3 player so that I'm *not* tethered to the computer. Is there any way I could download it outside of iTunes?

[Edited: never mind, I found it... see, asking for directions helps, it makes it more embarrassing when I do find my way on my own! :) ]

the discussion about Mark's kid playing the Fallopian tube in the school play was worth the full $3.76 (or whatever they charge me each month). Can't wait to hear the next one.

I liked the bit about the kids marching into the vagina two-by-two.

This right here is the greatest idea in podcast history. Klavan and Gutfeld would make a good second string (no offense, Andrew) but nothing can beat the original.

I saved this podcast for a late Saturday morning reward to the end of the work week. It did not disappoint. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.

Pure gold.  Like the folks, love the format, the content, and the chuckles.  Just one thing -- I'm having trouble with the premise:  What exactly is this?  As far as I can tell it's not significantly different from the original Ricochet podcast.   Same folks, same format, and same content.

I'm not one to complain about more of stuff I've grown to love.  I'm just not convinced this isn't "part of the series".  Is it that these guys will be regulars?  But I thought the only reasons the "regulars" on the Ricochet series weren't terribly regular was because of their other commitments and schedules and having a life.

Perhaps I'm not one to chime in on name since I don't "get it", I really like Clem Comly's suggestion, Ricochet Off the Wall.  If my impression is true, Ricochet Reprise might be apt (but I vote against it).   Ricochet Slugfest is a bit in Comly's spirit, as are From the Hip, Target Practise, and Reload.   If the idea is member's only content the name might suggest it:  Ricochet Inside Track, etc.

I usually have much to say in response to a podcast because I jot down my thoughts as I listen on my computer. But I burned this one to a CD and can't remember most of what ran through my mind as I listened to it (twice!) in the car. A great podcast.

Rob, you're right that trying to predict the actions of 30 million people, let alone 300 million, is wishful thinking. Of course, I have no intention of ceasing to make such predictions, but your words will always echo in my head to humble me as I do so.

Mark's point about BP advertising itself as "Beyond Petroleum" gave me an idea for a new conversation, but I'll wait until Monday. We truly live in an Orwellian world. (Can I say that without having read 1984?)

Jonah (whose laugh has taught me the meaning of "snickering") makes a great point about "the living Constitution" vs the permanence of welfare programs. America needs a popular vote on the Constitution. Let's force the Left and the squishy middle to explicitly state what "American" means in terms of basic legal values.

21st-century America begs definition.

Mark, your retort, "The glass is 1/32 full" was perfect. All this excited praise of recent Republican gains is like being told we will have an extra five minutes to enjoy our cocktails before the plane meets its abrupt end.

Mark, they're just getting the kids ready for the big Busby Berkeley number in the "Vagina Monologues:  The Muscial!" production they'll be putting on in high school.

Just got around to listening. Great show gentlemen!

Mark, Consider yourself lucky. If your son's school had more education funding they might have been able to afford this for their lesson.

Totally awesome podcast! I love the off-the-rails flow. It reminds of of the Ricochet podcasts where Peter isn't there to guide everyone back to topic. I like the more free form risque humor. I agree with others that Gutfeld would be a great addition when one of the main players is out. I get a Redeye vibe from it anyway. So Gut would fit in naturally.

I sure hope this isn't just once a month. It's comedy and commentary. It's comed-entary!

The 'Three's Company' name will work even better when whichever one is Suzanne Somers takes a couple months off from the podcast & we get a new 'roommate' for a few episodes.

How can this podcast not be called Ricochet:Beyond Thunderdome?

The question isn't whether Jonah's laugh sounds like a dolphin, but what message is he secretly conveying in dolphinese, by which I mean the language of the marine mammals, not the vocal emminations of Dolph Lundgren.
