Ricochet Podcast #98: Does Not Compute
We've got a full boat this week: InstaPundit's Glenn's Reynolds, firearms for Christmas, havoc in the primary process, our choice for Person of The Year, and driving across America with Rob Long. Yup, it's another Ricochet Podcast.
Music from this week's episode:
- This Is Why We Fight by The Decemberists
- Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee
Here's the direct link to this week's episode (great for mobile devices!). But get in the holiday spirit and subscribe! Not part of the iTunes revolution? Visit our Feedburner page for a number of other subscription options. Or better yet, use Stitcher.
Thanks to EJHill for the photo.

"Space Family Robinson!"
(Except the poor guy is stuck playing Dr. Smith.)

And he doesn't look happy about it either.
Re: Ricochet Podcast #98: Does Not Compute
That Joel Kotkin/suburbs interview is superb. I'd missed it, glad Glenn mentioned.

James is vastly better qualified to be Dr. Smith. Much nearer by a hairline!

So true! As I'm sure you know, Reason magazine has covered the sprawl fixation for decades. I so wish it and Glenn were better known! ... Glenn is one of my heroes because he's fair and generous and comes from great people but doesn't brag about it and is interested in so many things but is natural and apparently easy-going. I'm from the south so I can get away with calling him that best kind of good-ole-boy. (Not to mention that his wife is gorgeous and smart and tough.) Very glad he was on the podcast.

Peter, the notion of Florida's importance was the basis of Rudy Giuliani's strategy last time, no?

Amazon continues to tease by showing Richard Epstein's broadside in the Kindle store, but flagging it as "not currently available".

Anyone who uses the expression "blowed up good" is OK in my book.

Peter,
that would be Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada.

Re: Ricochet Podcast #98: Does Not Compute
Peter, Peter, Peter. At one point you threatened to do part of a podcast about Canada, and you can't remember our PM's name? We Canadians have a big enough inferiority complex as it is!
He really is part of an interesting story - he has been slowly building the PC party over many years - leader of minority governments, and now finally a majority government. His government is pushing many things, such as immigration reform, abolishment of the long gun registry, and abandoning the Kyoto protocol/treaty.
For him to steer this moderate-ish left country to moderate right is fantastic for us (ahem) centre-right Canadians. There are potentially some lessons for the right in the USA in this. . . .

Re: Ricochet Podcast #98: Does Not Compute
Erik I suggest we have the typical reaction that a Canadian has when they believe they've been dissed: we'll crinkle our brow ever so slightly, purse our lips and say you're welcome.

PseudoD, thank you, and sorry. (Another innate Canadian reaction)

Bill Shatner says this is another typical Canadian reaction:
Not bad, not bad.

Rob says Amarillo people are so friendly? What I remember most about Amarillo, having just driven through it two months ago, was that I could smell it long before I could see it. I read an article saying Texas has 600k less cattle because of a drought. Well, my nose said otherwise.
