- Islam Karimov has been the only president of Uzbekistan since the establishment of the office and had won three elections in a row which many consider as no more than shams. The third election was the most controversial since he had been elected twice. The explanation given by him was that his first term in office was only five years following the old constitution. We have no idea if Rob actually knew that or looked it up. Debate it in the comments.
- If you've never seen the clips of Mitt Romney debating Ted Kennedy from 1994 it's here. If you live in a primary state, you might as well wait, as you'll be seeing it in countless campaign commercials.
- Joe Rago is an editorial board member for The Wall Street Journal. Joe won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing. More importantly to one of the hosts of this podcast, he is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where he took a degree in American history and was editor in chief of the Dartmouth Review.

The links are off. The second from the bottom, supposedly to the Weekly Standard, repeats the one for joining Ricochet. Moving on up, they are off by one, so the one for Jim Gerahty's Campaign Spot e-mail is missing.

In reference to Herman Cain's 9-9-9 plan, I frequently hear that the massive increase in sales taxes will be off-putting. Without getting into discussion of the "horrors of consumerist America", wouldn't it be a good idea to switch to a system that "rewards" saving and "punishes" spending instead of our current system which is inverse to that? Perhaps encourage something to leave to your children besides debt?
This topic could also be used to remind people about things like Gasoline taxes, where heaped Fed + State taxes must always have a light shown on them. This is a drum we can not stop beating in order to pull the public view from "Big Oil" earnings.
Does post this have enough words in quotes? It's my first, I don't want to be too vague.

To Mr. Continetti's point, Pres. Obama will have a heck of a nomination speech because he's been working on it for four years instead of working on economic issues and jobs.
