Afghanistan and McChrystal top the conversation this week as Rob and Peter are joined by columnist and humorist James Lileks (from the great lileks.com), John Yoo, and Victor Davis Hanson. Well, not all the time. Peter does manange to wedge in some discussion of soccer too.

The discussion continues here.

And Steyn? Where is Steyn?

Pardon my sharp elbows, but I'm going to drunk blog your podcast.

1:00 Shades of 1986. America is today what Belgium was in 1986. We have the energy! Could be destiny! Messi is brilliant, but his coach, Maradona, cheated to win the '86 cup. I curse Diego Maradona. Cursing Argentina, on the other hand, is an exercise in redundancy.

Only Americans can be racist and jingoistic. Got it. It's part of the narrative.

Steyn is probably smoking a stogie with a glass of good bourbon.

Right! Nothing like progeny and property to make a rational man conservative.

Exactly. The pay stub is indeed a stub. Business men call it profit.

Crap, the cat has killed another small animal. Gus is obviously a Republican because he only fees on endangered species.

I think Bismarck probably meant "drunk American sailors."

Oh, yeah, Iran is going to break the Gaza "blockade." And how will they get through the Suez without approval from the Gippies?

I love how Victor Davis Hanson compared the Obama Admin. to a whiny, petulant teenager, not wanting any of this war stuff. It was forced on them. Yada, yada. So true, VDH!

Oh, and pleeeeeeeease use your wiles, Rob, to bring on John Ratzenberger. I would LOVE to hear his inside scoop on the Pixar scene. I've adored every single one of their movies except for "Cars" and "Ratatouille." While I didn't think those movies quite measured up to the standard Pixar fare, they certainly outclassed the rest of the dreck being pedaled as animation films.

And while on a begging binge, pleeeeeeeeeeease, Mr. Victor Davis Hanson, please, interact with us over here at Ricochet. I'm sitting here nervously wringing my hands hoping for a virtual VDH siting.

Democrats learn from anything? You're kidding me, right? Scoop was replaced by Jesse. End of story.

That would be the good professor Hanson to you, punks.
