Wheel of Ricochet

At long last, Pat Sajak returns from the wilderness of his self-imposed hiatus to discuss the primaries, on-line etiquette, and the Komen controversy. But all of that is prelude to Pat's big reveal: his secret obsession with Match Game (the old game show). Later, Matt Continetti joins to discuss politics and his new venture,  The Washington Free Beacon. It's a super-sized episode, so better get started now. Also, don't miss a classic but rarely heard Robinson Presidential impression.

Thanks, EJ. (P.S. this graphic was made before we recorded the show, but it was too good to not use. Yes, we probably should have put them on the Match Game set. Our bad, not EJ's)

I know that Nixon anecdote is true, because I've heard it before   :)

I canned the Roman Numerals after episode 100. But thanks for keeping us honest.

Re the Tom Wolfe story and the shift from print to television, I heard that people saved the JFK newspapers for a long time afterwards.    :)

James can do four series' worth of Trek. So which series does he ignore?

(Betting it's Enterprise.)

I have to say that Mr. Robinson does a pretty good impression of Nixon.

Thank you Pat Sajak for coming back in the ring. The political airwaves have missed your wildly intelligent mind and opinions. I'm hoping your eyes are on the Republican Senate Seat race for Maryland, Daniel Bongino the ex Secret Service agent who is running in Md. has gone nationwide as one of the conservatives to watch . .. thoughts on Mr. Bongino and a conservative winning in Maryland?

The thing about that music is the relative amount of effort and thought that went into it is absurd.  Wiki says it was composed and played by Ken Bichel, a classically trained musician.

I just got around to listening to the podcast.  Lots of fun.

And is it just me, or did Peter do a pretty spot-on impression of Tricky Dick?

Great podcast! But, I'd like to further one part of their discussion . . .

Henry Ford would've been STUNNED had he known back in the early 1900's that he could've given away Model T's for free had he charged businesses of the day to advertise on the panels of the car.

Don't laugh. Because that's happening today on the Internet: Other people/businesses pay for everybody else's access to websites (except on Ricochet, that is). And it is this fact that keeps most of what you read on the Internet in the sewer. Nobody cares about the content because nobody is paying for it. It's just like healthcare: When someone else pays, people don't care what the cost or quality is.

And just as I expect that the evolution of the automobile would've been much slower had a third party been paying, I don't see trash clean-up happening on the Internet as long as 99 percent of sites are free. And it's this free-ness that is also ruining news these days. At least in the heyday of newspaper, people had to pay for one.
