Rico-Soiree and Sushi in NYC!
As our distinguished contributor Diane Ellis is in the Big Apple this week, I'd like to organize a get together for the Ricochetoise in the area. The last time I had the pleasure of seeing Diane was in San Francisco where I was on a quest to find the perfect burrito, a Bay Area specialty. Although my pickiness for sushi has gone through the roof after living in Japan, New York still has the best raw fish in the country, so that seems as good a local specialty as any to feast on while enjoying engaging conversation with good company.
Here are the tentative details for the evening:
Date: Monday, 27 June
Time: 7:00
Place: Haru Sushi, 48th St. between Park and Madison
Please shout out in the comments section if we can expect you, and I'll make reservations later on this week. Haru has some great tree-canopied outdoor seating, perfect for a mid-summer's meal. Looking forward to seeing those of you who can make it!

Interesting. I was in New York last week and precisely no one set up a soiree for me. I understand I'm not as cool as "Diane Ellis" but it hurts. It hurts, I tell you.

Yes, Diane, I live about an hour and a half from mid-town Manhattan. I'll send an email about my Bay Area trip (arriving 7/31, dumping the kid at Stanford, departing 8/13) so we can get something set up. At least one So Cal Ricochet member wants to arrange life so she can get there. Looking forward to meeting you!

Mollie and Mark Hemingway are near D.C. You should propose a time and place over on the Member Feed and see if you can get a group of folks together for drinks or dinner.

I believe Richard is in Chicago for most of the summer. As for McGurn, believe me, you should coax away. He is one of the world's great gentlemen and you will enjoy his company.

You're going to fly coast to coast and all you're going to get is raw fish prepared by a "chef" who doesn't even cook? The company would have to be dazzling to make up for that!

Unless only women are invited, it would be Ricochetois or Ricocheters. I learned that in Paramus (NJ).
So. Like. Who is attending (as opposed to who is attending a hypothetical gathering in another city on another evening)?
I'll bring a camera--this way I can keep myself out of as many photos as possible ;-)
