Rich Old Men, Young Beautiful Women
Apparently, these things don't usually go together. Billionaires, according to Forbes, are mostly the shy, retiring types:
There he goes again, that mythical billionaire squiring his vastly younger new wife around town. You know who they are: Donald and Melania Trump. Sumner Redstone and Paula Fortunato. Larry Ellison and Melanie Craft. She's so young. He's so vigorous!
It is time to call that man out. You can count on two hands the number of Forbes 400 members who fit that stereotype. Billionaires are fairly monogamous. Fewer than 100 people on the rich list have been married more than once. Fewer than 20 are on a third wife. The elite four-wife club, which offers the best chance to marry someone 30 years younger, has 6 members.
Okay, two questions: 1) Is Donald Trump really a billionaire? And 2) What does it say about our popular culture, which celebrates money and wealth and power and freedom, when the divorce rate among billionaires is only 25%, much lower than the national average.
I guess the secret to getting rich is to avoid a lot of distractions.

I heard someone say, if you want to get divorced, just go down to the bank, get out a ton of $100 bills, and drive down the freeway blowing them out the window. It's cheaper and a lot more fun.

Forbes valued Trump's net worth at $3 bill back in 2007. The short-fingered vulgarian may down to his last billion now, though; his last enormous Chicago project didn't make a $40 mil payment and the Trump-named Atlantic casinos went Chapter 11 last year. Doesn't mean he's not doing fine - he's probably not on the hook for anything except alimony - but it's been a while since I read a story headlined "Latest Trump Project Gushes Ceaseless Quantities of Cash, As Usual."

Would you say those charges were "Trumped Up?"
Money is the ultimate aphrodisiac, so what's the point here? Especially in Rob's corner of the world. Bing Crosby and Kathryn Grant (30 years), Fred and Robyn Astaire (45 years), Tony and Heather Randall (50 years)... the list goes on and on.
Besides, the divorce rate is over-hyped. Take out the serial killers (Artie Shaw, Elizabeth Taylor, etc) and the rate drops.

Divorce rate lower than the national average? Simple: it's easier to "overlook" the indiscretions when married to a BILLIONAIRE.
