Ready For His Close-up?
Actor, director and political dabbler George Clooney thinks it's time for a Republican star to be born.
Clooney's thought: Newt Gingrich would be a great addition to the silver screen:
"I don't know (what role he would play) but I'd just like to see him in a film. I think he'd be fun.”
Newt may be a step ahead on this -- he already has an IMDB page.
My question: where do you see the current Republican field a year from now?
Is Herman Cain destined for his own show on Fox, ala Huckabee?
Do Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann stay in Congress or ditch elected office for mischief-making/non-partisan/"people vs. the powerful" movements?
Barring a surprise breakthrough in New Hampshire and 15 minutes of unexpected fame, where does Jon Hunstman end up? Academia, venture capital, spokesman for Berlitz Mandarin CD's?
Assuming they remain back in the back, what's the next act for the likes of Rick Santorum and Gary Johnson?

Re: Ready For His Close-up?
Herman Cain - Preparing to succeed Ben Bernanke whose term as Chairman of the Fed expires January 31, 2014.
Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann stay in Congress? Paul is done. Bachmann will have to see how much damage has been done in a redrawn district by her run.
Jon Hunstman? Huntsman Industries or the DNC.
Rick Santorum goes to the National Right to Life Foundation and Gary Johnson ends up on K Street.

I would add that Newt will be in the cabinet.

Re: Ready For His Close-up?
Newt can turn up the rhetorical passion--full blast--and speak directly from the heart, but do it without getting overemotional, which is exactly what actors have to be able to do. It's what glues the audience's eyes to the actor. If only the content was as consistently excellent as the delivery.

Re: Ready For His Close-up?
I think I'd like to see Herman Cain on the speaker circuit in 2021.

Re: Ready For His Close-up?
I think Mitt Romney will be the U.S. Representative to the United Nations.

Re: Ready For His Close-up?
As long as Newt doesn't cave and agree to be a shadowy right-wing villain, he'll be fine. I still think that the world needs a replacement for Leslie Nielsen. With the white hair, a sense of humor, and an uncanny ability to think on his feet, Newt could play Frank Drebbin's cousin who goes into politics. I don't know if George Kennedy is still acting, but Fred Thompson could be the sidekick.
I see the others on Dancing With The Stars, except for Huntsman. Huntsman is surely destined to be a snooty waiter at a chic restaurant.
