Hmm...what to make of this:

That the Democrats under the microscope -- New York Rep. Charles B. Rangel and California Rep. Maxine Waters -- are both black only underscores the seriousness with which the Democratic leadership supports a new set of standards for conduct.

The author reasons that Americans will see that Democrats are serious about "draining the swamp" because this time being black isn't even enough to protect a politician from being indicted for fraud or corruption. Seems to me like the author is conceding that Democrats are typically racist, but in this case aren't, and are thus deserving of approbation. Strange.

I think I get it now, Diane. It's a little like the Mafia taking a bow for knocking off a few of their own.

I think it will be good for the Democrats just like Vietnam was good for LBJ.

To the great unwashed here in fly-over country, the storyline will not be the wonderful Dems "draining the swamp," but "look at those crooked Dem politicians." Another reason to make them private citizens.

Pat, you are truly a stinker (and I mean that in the most complimentary way).

As for the article in question, it defines the phrase "too clever by half". The Democrats run an economy that should be recovering by now back into the ditch with their insane spending spree. They put the government boot on the neck of American business, destroying thousands of jobs. They line their own pockets at the expense of...pretty much everybody else. But, oh by the way, they deserve all the credit in the world for delivering a long overdue slap on the wrist to a few Congressional crooks whose malfeasance finally became too egregious (and noisy) to ignore. Sorry, Froma Harrop, if that really is your name: no sale.

Peter, my grandmother used to call me a stinker, and I think she meant it the same way. It was fun to be called that again. Thanks.

Froma Harrop isn't a name; it's a bad Scrabble hand. This clearly demonstrates how these buffoons can't come up with a plausible line after the demise of Journolist.

You know, when Larry Craig had his little spot of bother, I remember thinking, "At last! The Republicans are showing everybody that they're not just a bunch of boring, old, white guys. They're a bunch of boring, old, creepy, white guys who hang around public restrooms! Election Day, here we come!"

Sheesh.
