Rahm Emanuel is expected to leave his job later this year after growing tired of the "idealism" of Barack Obama's inner circle...Washington insiders say he will quit within six to eight months in frustration at their unwillingness to "bang heads together" to get policy pushed through.

Looks like an eager candidate has stepped forward to fill the vacancy.

Color me shocked. No, really, that's an official Crayola color.

Golly gee, the guy tied by the press to a bunch of criticisms of the crew in power is going to be fired. Whoda thunk? I just remember when Rahm was supposed to be the guy standing up to Congress and smacking them around. Which he did occasionally, to not much effect.

I'll miss you, Rahm. In the shower. When nobody's there to prod me

Best news possible.

Rhombo is just too effective a political player. He is the one on that team that comprehends incrementalism and the politics of the deal. Seems the Obamites are going all in instead of "moving to the center". They might as well hire Moore since he will be as effective in that roll as anyone else from the frindge Left. Gridlock here we come!

Regarding the "eager candidate," not even God loves us that much.

Chuck Todd spinning like this on Twitter: "You know it's a slow news day for the inter-tubes when a loosely-sourced non-U.S. news report about Rahm gets traction." Effective tool of the spin machine?

Spin is sort of ineffective if the story pans out. Then you just look like Baghdad Bob, or possibly Officer Barbrady. "Move along, people, nothing to see here." Seems to me that in the absence of information, Chuck should've just laid low.

James Poulos

Also on Twitter, Trace, is Marc Ambinder, who reminds us that Rahm has said publicly and repeatedly that for him Chief of Staff is a two-year gig. So I imagine this is where Chuck Todd is coming from. But. We all know that the real story here is not that Rahm is leaving, or even exactly when he is leaving, but under what circumstances he is leaving. More for the Hillary '12 file.

They say that Rahm is the only pragmatist amongst the inner circle. I suppose, after his departure, the administration will settle even deeper into the ozone than they already have.

Rob Long

When Rahm Emmanuel is the pragmatist in the room, you know you're in trouble.
