Presidential candidates: they're a dime a dozen and they're everywhere. But you know us -- when everyone else zigs, we zag. That's why on this week's Ricochet Podcast, we've got the guys who didn't run. Mitch Daniels and Haley Barbour join us (together) for what promises to be a fascinating chat. Coming tomorrow.

Peter Robinson's Rolodex is worth waaaaay more than $3.58 a month.

I got tons of trash-talkin tweets queued up, even if they don't talk trash. We know drama.

Just be sure to tell Mitch that he broke that corroded, flinty thing that passes for my heart.

I'm with Kenneth. Wait.. yeah. I'm with Kenneth, except the corroded, flinty part.

Sshhh! Don't give these guys any crazy ideas!

No more Weiner jokes. Please, for the sake of the Republic, don't do it.

Re: Programming Note: The Guys Who Didn't Run
No offense intended, but these guys look a lot like Putin and Yeltsin at the May Day parade.

I am with the K-man. P.S. for some reason I can only imagine Kenneth dressed in black. I assume he has other clothing, but the profile pic coupled with the content of his posts suggest otherwise.

Interesting, because my heart is in fact ten sizes too small. Which is why it's lucky that I rarely move. At all.

I won't order the Chianti or fava beans then.

Pls tell Guv Barbour he deserves a Medal of Freedom award for his quick, quiet and competent reactions to the disaster wreaked upon his state by Katrina. He's up there with Rudy G in the "Top Ten Crisis Managers" of the 21st century.

I am disappointed that he isn't running for President but, as a Hoosier for the first twenty-six years of my life, Governor Daniels has my deepest gratitude.

Re: Programming Note: The Guys Who Didn't Run
I don't know if I'll be able to bear to listen with all the "what could have been" swirling around my brain. I just hope they'll remain engaged. Governor Daniels as Chief of Staff and a repeat performance for Governor Barbour at the RNC, perhaps? (I would suggest cabinet posts, but I prefer they serve in roles of substance and authority.)

Re: Programming Note: The Guys Who Didn't Run
Wow. I was flirting with Ricochet withdrawal during that one week of no podcasts. Now I'm struggling just to keep up with all the great content!
I would be happy to pay $3.58 just for a dinky podcast with Steyn and/or Lileks. I had no idea we'd get casual, intellectual conversation with A list guests! Vaaht Ah Country!
One question: what prospect is there for a Steyn-Lileks Hour podcast (ideally with Jonah as the laugh track)?

Re: Programming Note: The Guys Who Didn't Run
I agree and suggested this months ago. RNC job is an important one; no amateurs need apply.

Re: Programming Note: The Guys Who Didn't Run
I'm still upset with Mitch for not running so I'll probably sit this one out.
Who am I kidding......I'll be there as always. But I would like to give him an earful.

I'd like to see some discussion about the wait list for Canadians to get US green cards, since we now (according to my Member Feed post with the boring title) have a housing debt problem akin to 2007 in the US.
