Price Increase Alert!
Many of you know that our monthly price is pegged to the price of a grande caffe latte at Starbucks. Well, we've been told by their fine baristas (we check with their flagship store at Pike Place Market in Seattle), that said price has risen from $3.47 to $3.58.
So, effective April 4, our monthly price for new memberships is rising to $3.58. (If you're a member prior to April 4, then your price will remain the same.)
Also, monthly subscribers now have an option to switch over to our discounted annual plan of $29.95. To do this, go to your "My Account" page (using the link in the upper right hand corner), and then hit the "Manage Subscription and Billing" button.
Update: It's official... we can blame global warming. From the New York Times:
In the last few years, coffee yields have plummeted here and in many of Latin America’s other premier coffee regions as a result of rising temperatures and more intense and unpredictable rains, phenomena that many scientists link partly to global warming.

Sheer coincidence that Rob Long's vintage Ferrari needs an engine rebuild.

Re: Price Increase Alert!
THAT'S IT! This site is a TOTAL rip off and I, for one, am SICK of this EXPLOITATIVE pricing.
(if the sarcasm wasn't obvious, let me state, for the record, that I am totally cool with the new pricing)

Re: Price Increase Alert!
You might consider linking the price to something a little less volatile. Or at least something we can see without having to buy a round trip ticket to Seattle.

Re: Price Increase Alert!
At least we always know what the price of a grande latte is. Burned into our tiny brains. Economy must be picking up. Green shoots.

If food price inflation led to riots and revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa, what will this lead to???

Re: Price Increase Alert!
I read in yesterday's Wall Street Journal that prices for Arabica beans are at a 14 year high. Coincidentally, grande lattes at Starbucks now cost $0.11 more. Ricochet responds in kind and, much like China artificially valuing the yuan, artificially pegs subscription rates to the price of frou-frou coffee in Seattle. How shall we respond to this crass manipulation?
I say we respond just as the U.S. has responded to China's blatant currency manipulation by ... doing absolutely nothing.

Peg it to the Charlie Sheen porn-hooker price index.

Re: Price Increase Alert!
Are you going to change the logo, too? For my money I got a completely made over Starbucks cup today. Is anyone at Ricochet working on a new logo. Noooooo! you're just pretending that there's something new and exciting going on here. Get rid of the writing on the logo, you are no longer just a podcast. You capitalists are all alike, you milk use for all we are worth and that's got me steamed extra hot. Where's my double pump when I need it.

Thankfully, you haven't linked it to the round trip fare to Seattle.

Combined with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's ominous talk on Fair Trade this could be a sign of a Fair Trade version of Ricochet with mandatory equal time segments by NPR. I knew you were all practicing your NPR voices for a reason.

Re: Price Increase Alert!
Perhaps We Members could unionize and charge New Members $0.11 a month to join and assure Them that We would negotiate with Ricochet to keep Their dues a $3.47 a month.
