President Misses Another Intelligence Briefing
Marc Theissen in the Washington Post:
According to the public schedule of the president, the last time the Obama attended his daily intelligence meeting was Sept. 5 — a week before Islamist radicals stormed our embassy in Cairo and terrorists killed our ambassador to Tripoli. The president was scheduled to hold the intelligence meeting at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, the day after the attacks, but it was canceled so that he could comfort grieving employees at the State Department — as well he should. But instead of rescheduling the intelligence briefing for later in the day, Obama apparently chose to skip it altogether and attend a Las Vegas fundraiser for his re-election campaign. One day after a terrorist attack.
. . .
It is apparently a point of pride in the White House that Obama’s PDB (Presidential Daily Briefing) is “not briefed to him.” In the eyes of this administration, it is a virtue that the president does not meet every day with senior intelligence officials. This president, you see, does not need briefers. He can forgo his daily intelligence meeting because he is, in [National Security Council spokesman Tommy] Vietor’s words, “among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet.”
I can't escape this rising sense that our President is a dangerous individual. Either too woefully incompetent to hold office, too self-centered to care about anything other than his re-election, or too apathetic about American interests abroad. (Probably all three.) But dangerous either way.
Am I over-reacting?

I don't think you are overreacting at all.
It's, at the very least, dangerously incompetent.
It would be political suicide too, if the press wasn't covering for him.

No, Drew. You aren't. In order to be a sophisticated consumer of intelligence, don't you actually have to consume the intelligence by attending the briefing?
Or is he so sophisticated that it magically enters his brain via secret NSA radio-waves?

Side note: the wife is recently less reticent about me getting a rifle. Perhaps even she (a very apolitical person) can feel the changes coming as a result of this man. He has continually sacrificed the good of this nation to his vanity and his personal ambition. He's historic, but probably not in the way he meant to be.

Re: President Misses Another Intelligence Briefing
There's no much point for Obama to be briefed by his intelligence advisers, since he's a better intelligence adviser than his intelligence advisers...

By the way, Thiessen really nails it in the last three paragraphs which I didn't quote.

Re: President Misses Another Intelligence Briefing
Drew, like you. My first choice is always to give someone the benefit of doubt. His behavior is incomprehensible. My 84 year old, non-English speaking Singaporean mother from half way across the world spend 40 mins on the phone with me asking me common sense questions : who are these terrorists? why aren't the posts armed? what will US do next? etc. She was concerned about what else could happen to the US and rest of the Free world. And she is not even American! The President of United States would rather hop on the plane to Las Vegas and call a day with 4 patriotic Americans killed in cold blood a "tough day". Then proceeded to smile, joke and shake hands and compare campaign volunteers to murdered embassy staffing, all in the midst of an international crisis. He is not just incompetent, dishonest, narcissistic, he is a sociopath. "President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people."

Why does Thiessen write for WaPo?
Writing for them is like writing for the National Enquirer. Only the Enquirer is a better publication.

No you're not. Getting the PDB in writing daily with some lower frequency of meetings isn't necessarily bad in calm times, but now? The hubris behind Vietor's statement shows Obama and his sychophants to be utter fools. It sounds like King Canute, only Obama really thinks he can control the oceans.

You are not over-reacting . That feeling is called correct addition .
It all adds up . But the number hasn't changed since he took office .

Re: President Misses Another Intelligence Briefing
I initially thought our side was overreacting to the attacks (in the sense that it could have been prevented) and we should have been more patient in determining our critique of the Obama response. As the details come out, I believe I was wrong. It keeps getting worse and worse.

Would Bill Clinton have got away with a trip to Vegas in similar circumstances? Although, come to think of it, he did get away with plenty.

The hardest people to teach are the ones who think they already know all of the answers.
A side point: those intelligence officials must feel great seeing the amount of attention the President pays to their hard work.

Re: President Misses Another Intelligence Briefing
No, you are not overreacting. Obama is dangerous because he is stupid. And the MSM continues to cover for him during his campaign trip to Vegas. If these reports from Drudge are true, the story gets much worse.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/revealed-inside-story-of-us-envoys-assassination-8135797.html
And meanwhile, Eric Holder just outed the real name of the man who created the video & his location. In an effort to blame the anti-Islam video for what is clearly a well-planned attack that used the video as an excuse:
http://washington.cbslocal.com/2012/09/13/us-identifies-anti-muslim-filmmaker/
And I'm sure you already the story from "Wired" about the former Navy Seal (one of 2 SEALS murdered in Benghazi attack) who posted to his gaming friends that he might die that night.
"A few hours earlier, Smith had posted, "assuming we don't die tonight. We saw one of our 'police' that guard the compound taking pictures," he recounted".
See: Fox news, CNN, Wired, etc.
You are not overreacting and the incompetence of this WH is terrifying.

"Nothing to see here folks. Move along, move along."
I invoke that most sacred of American Scriptures - Officer Barbrady from South Park to describe the reaction by the MSM to these murders.
And to the stupidity which led up to these murders.
However, so long as they get that evil "anti-Islamist" (a phrase I heard on NPR tonight as I was working my tail off) who made a movie and put it onto Youtube, then things will be OK.
"Nothing to see here, folks, move along, move along."
Cows to the slaughter.

Re: President Misses Another Intelligence Briefing
We live in a dangerous world that has been made more dangerous by the people of this country blindly voting for a man they really knew nothing about. They lined up to buy what the flim flam man was selling. Many of us have considered Obama a dangerous man for awhile now, but unfortunately more people are determined to believe the things he says rather than believe the evidence before their very eyes (by that I mean it would be before their very eyes if they bothered to look anywhere but at the MSM). I don't think you are overreacting to claim that Obama is a dangerous man. The only question is - Is he dangerous because he is incompetent or dangerous because he truly wants to weaken America. I tend to think that there are powerful people who saw potential in Obama to bring about the change they wanted to this country and he is so arrogant and egotistical that he can't admit that he is in way over his head. I also think that he sees no reason to put too much time into learning what needs to be done because he turns it over to others.

Re: President Misses Another Intelligence Briefing
It was mentioned yesterday that Romney, who as a presidential candidate and thus entitiled to foreign affairs briefings, has not yet been privy to anything. I am not sure if it is because he hasn't requested it, or if it has not been offered. I just wonder what the reason is behind not at least in including him somewhat in what is going on.
