Re. Lileks on Sweden, our member Jason comments:

Jason Hart: The frightening thing, James, is the amount of Steynian analysis we already have for this story: America Alone predicted the rise of the nationalist, explicitly anti-immigrant parties now gaining influence in Europe.

So did I, actually. But it's always Steyn, Steyn, Steyn, Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, never Claire.

The Berlinski junta has had quite enough of America Alone. I predicted it too! I predicted it first! This is not fair.

Therefore, as of now, in the interests of state security and enhanced democracy, all references to the unerring accuracy of any Ricochet contributor's predictions of Europe's demise are subject to the new Ricochet Fairness and Accountability in Broadcasting Act, which means you must mention me every time you mention Mark Steyn. In fact, his fame and popularity are excessively unfair, and therefore, to ensure balance and democracy, my name must be mentioned twice whenever his comes up.

Airbrushers, please remove Steyn's photo and replace it with a second one of me. One in which I look characteristically wise. Thanks.

So Claire, what was the especially telling lyric that Jerome Kern used as he struggled to describe the war,or was it Yip Harburg who found the right words ?

Darn it, we need to ask someone.......??

Ursula Hennessey

This might be one of my all-time favorite Ricochet lines, but I wonder if the reference will be missed by more than a few ...

Claire: that newly conferred ,Ed. isn't equivalent to ER -- let's try to get our megalomania under control, shall we?

Mark and Claire need to be on a podcast together to sort this out. Claire I appreciate your use of bold and italics.

Steyn lives in New Hampshire, and is quickly available for radio and TV interviews during "normal" hours. Where do you live again?

Speaking of Claire célèbre, when is that Uncommon Knowledge interview going up?

This coming Monday.

Fair warning, Claire: I've escaped from gulag--nice touch imprisoning me in a Louisville Motel 6--and am making my way overland to join up with Mark Steyn. We will take back Ricochet for, um, for whatever inspiring name we will soon be calling ourselves!

Claire, I think most of us have assumed all along you're simply Mark Steyn in drag.

He's bluffing. Do not fear, friends of peace, security, democracy and fairness. He will be neutralized.

Claire maybe needs to speak English with an exotic foreign accent too. There's something important she can work on. :)

Just to clarify, if I were to write "Boy that Steyn nailed the European collapse in America Alone" I would then need to follow up with something like: "Did you see Claire posted about Turkey again? What, another slow news day in American Samoa? At least it's American. The Golden Horn isn't the whole world you know."

I want to make sure I'm in compliance with the new Clairearchy.

Rob was joking with that "Queen of Ricochet" thing -- how was he to know that Claire would take him literally

Well, Claire did promise to get all Draconian on commenters, so instead of "Queen of Ricochet" why not Tyrant? I'm sure that Victor Davis Hanson could give her pointers. :-D

"First Claire who made the Ricochet laws, then Jonah of DC renowned for his saws...."

Claire Berlinski, Ed.:

The Berlinski junta has had quite enough of America Alone.

I've seen "junta" in Ricochet's Twitter messages 8 times since you seized control. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Oh, and since I purchased America Alone, Menace in Europe and There Is No Alternative simultaneously and before the coup, it seems only fair that I should be made a general in this new world order.
