Portland Principal: PB&J Is Racist
Chicago teachers aren't the only ones indoctrinating kids in progressive ideas such as the evils of being measured by results rather than attitudes. An Oregon principal recently told the Portland Tribune that American food is a symbol of "white privilege."
Verenice Gutierrez picks up on the subtle language of racism every day.
Take the peanut butter sandwich, a seemingly innocent example a teacher used in a lesson last school year.
“What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches?” says Gutierrez, principal at Harvey Scott K-8 School...
Oh, there's more.
Through intensive staff trainings, frequent staff meetings, classroom observations and other initiatives, the premise is that if educators can understand their own “white privilege,” then they can change their teaching practices to boost minority students’ performance.
Last Wednesday, the first day of the school year for staff, for example, the first item of business for teachers at Scott School was to have a Courageous Conversation — to examine a news article and discuss the “white privilege” it conveys.
The school is also starting a drum class open only to black and Latino boys. This is where I start seeing signs like "whites need not apply."
The local school district's spokesman said the district saw no problem with the principal's statements. I see a problem that, in a school in need of obvious academic improvement, school staff are spending time on race and sensitivity workshops rather than math and reading training. These kids' problem is not that they're black or brown or purple, it's that they can't read.
Here's a memo to parents and conservatives everywhere: It's not just Chicago union members and Portland principals steeped in failed and outrageous progressive teaching methods. Progressivism reigns in every public school, and state-mandated certification ensures every public school teacher conforms.

I am offended by this principle's racist comments and attitude. However, I'll get over it. He never will.

Bottom slice butter-side up, top slice butter-side down.
Otherwise your hands get very messy. · 17 minutes ago
Nah, that's why you fry them. Makes the butter soak right in, you get a lovely crusty edge, goes well with the mayo and cheese. · 1 minute ago
He didn't say for fried sandwiches.
Personally, my favorite fried sandwich is the Monte Cristo.
But that's probably racist of me. ;) · 0 minutes ago

Try a Swiss Patty melt with a rasher of bacon and egg over easy on top.
There is another called a Beezer (Do not ask why, Dunno). Lean gound sirloin, real Swiss, grilled between slices of dark Rye. Then dip each bite in a combinatation of French Onion soup mix and Sour Cream that has set for 24 hours. Wonderfull.
Note, Any PB&J must be on sturdy toast and consumed while still warm !

Re: Portland Principal: PB&J Is Racist
It seems at times like we're no longer a nation that welcomes immigrants, but one that tolerates colonists -- colonists who vote as a bloc and find common cause with any group with a grievance, whether real, imagined, or exaggerated. Perhaps this pessimism is unwarranted and the machinery of assimilation will turn the great numbers of newcomers into loyal, English-speaking Americans who understand the greatness of this nation and the real sources of its prosperity (lack of a widespread hacienda system comes to mind as one). But when someone in a position of authority over young people can publicly and unabashedly imply that the original populace of the republic is evil for simply going about life as before, I truly start to fear for the future of the country.

Wait a second, how can peanut butter be racist? It's brown. Mayonnaise is the real enemy!

Amen. Even though I am a teacher of 20 years in the public system in three different states, if I had kids, they would either be homeschooled or sent to a private school. There is no way I would allow them to be exposed to such ludicrous indoctrination. If its not multiculturalism, its global warming or gender issues.
But it gets worse. We no longer teach content to any degree in the primary grades. It is all process. So we teach Hispanic and Asian refugee kids how to decode English, but we do no teach them enough history, government, or common culture to be able to comprehend a dime store novel, let alone a history book or a newspaper article.
I try my best to teach the kids I have, mostly Mexican and Southeast Asian, about what it means to be an American. I often ask them this: Why did your parents come to America? They don't know so I encourage them to ask their parents. I want them to understand that their parents came here because this is the greatest country in the world!

All this wisdom and insight from a so-called 'educator'.
As a parent of four, three in high-school; I am constantly reminded at teachers meetings, just how bad things have gotten in modern education. Indoctrination and political correctness rule the day. Far more important in the 'educational' system, than you know; education.
