Podcast: Two and a Half Ricochetistas

Recorded poolside one week ago last Saturday, as the MS Nieuw Amsterdam was steaming back to Fort Lauderdale with 650 or so National Review Cruisers onboard -- including Ricochet's own Rob Long and James Lileks, and National Review's in-house cartoonist (and Boris Badenov sound-alike) Roman Genn.
(And special thanks to Rob for inviting me to post here from time to time, and for Troy and the mysterious Blue Yeti for making it happen.)

Rob was certainly less reticent in this podcast than on Ricochet, saying that to win back the culture, "We need to stop harping on gay marriage."
Hmmm?
First, we're not the ones doing most of the harping, unless objecting to having gay marriage shoved down our throats is harping.
Second, allowing the destruction of marriage by giving in to gay marriage (and to do the latter is to do the former) is not winning the culture but surrendering the culture. Or do you suppose Gay Pride parades will suddenly become family-friendly events if only those closed-minded conservatives would stop their harping?
The only cultural myth more deceptive than "gay marriage" is "gay family" But since there's a popular TV show about it, I guess that's all the proof Rob needs of its reality.

Until they get rid of the Folsom Street Fair or the Dore Alley festival, there is going to be a culture clash. Culture clashs inevitably become fodder for legislation.
