Piper Palin, Sarah Palin's young daughter, is only ten years old--but she is full of personality. Just look at the expression on her face, above. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that look--would you?

I came across a slideshow of the "5 Best Piper Palin Moments" today and they depict a pretty spirited young girl who isn't afraid, for instance, of telling off a Time Magazine journalist:

There's some debate over the purpose of Palin's bus tour: Palin says it's about repairing America, some observers think it's a prelude to a presidential run, and others think it's about self-promotion (or even making money for herself). But someone apparently told Piper it was a holiday-and she's not happy about the attention.

When a Time photographer tried to take some shots in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on June 1, [Piper] told her, "Thanks for ruining our vacation."

There's also this

[Piper Palin's] disdain for the press is palpable. When a reporter approached Sarah Palin to ask a question [on] June 1 in Philadelphia, Piper ran interference, physically standing between her mother and the journalist.

Pretty sassy, isn't she?

I do not envy the children of the famous. I just hope they can get through it.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the second female President of the United States, Piper Palin.

Looks like the fruit does not fall far from the tree!

Good for you Piper, the way the media and the liberals (but I repeat myself) and many on the right have savaged your mother, I think you should run interference for her, so few adults seem to want to.

Do you remember the scene from the orginal 1973(?) movie "Walking Tall" when Bufford T Pusser is almost killed and is in the hospital, his young son comes in and sits on a chair outside the doorway with his rifle on his lap.

Kids know when their parents are being mistreated.

Good for your Piper!

I love that Piper is so protective of her mother--it's pretty cute.

The title is actually "5 Best Piper Palin Antics", not "Moments", and it is hosted by MSNBC.  Even a stopped clock . . . and here it is, just like--um--clockwork:  "Sarah Palin Gets Out-Meaned by Margaret Thatcher".

You do get the impression that this is one celebrity's child who is not going to get messed up by the limelight.

With all due respect to the many fine members of the press corps on Ricochet... good girl.

As the Gaffer might say: It's an ill wind as blows nobody no good.

If the children of America were raised as Piper, it is unlikely that there would be a need for Ricochet or this comment.

I thought it was standard to not delve so deeply into the lives and acts of children of politicians and celebrities.

If I were 10, and someone treated my mother the way the press has treated Palin, they'd be lucky if interference was all they got.  I was pretty handy with a slingshot when I was a tyke.

Piper is responding as a 10 year old--she loves her parents and her family and doesn't understand why all these people hate her Mom and why they all have to intrude on their family vacation.

It is not a political issue. It is the genuine reaction of a 10 year old girl in the face of the pressure on her family. I appreciate her sass, but it is not a political issue.

Piper should blame her mother, not the media, for dragging her into this.

Just trying to get a handle on your reasoning John, if my wife took our kids to the state fair and some mugger snatches my wife's purse and knocks down my kid while doing it, would it be my wife's fault for taking the kids to the fair?

No blame attached to the mugger?

Help me out here. :)
