Here is Rick Perry's Q&A following the press conference yesterday on Israel and Palestine.

Do you mean that literally, Judith?  Do you still vote in US elections?

I did for a few years, but I decided maybe thirty years ago that it isn't right since I neither live nor pay taxes in the US. I maintain US citizenship and registered my children who were born here, as US citizens, but voting seems to me to be wrong.

Israel, yes, I do still vote in US elections. My children are all as American as they are Israeli, and America's future is their future. I do understand what you're saying, though. It's an interesting question.

I've heard the fear from some Jews that America's Evangelical Christians are only interested in Israel because their End of the World theology revolves around Israel being restored to the control of the Jews. It's actually a very small number of Evangelicals that are preoccupied with that theology, but in any case, they have no expectation of controlling the timing of it. That's entirely the work of God. If it takes two thousand more years, or ten thousand more years, that's what it takes. That may be weird theology, but it's not anti-Semitic, and it's definitely not a proactive theology. The good part is, they believe Jews must control Israel. It's the Ahmadinejad's of the world that are perfectly willing to preempt God's plans for Israel (whatever they are. I don't presume to know.) America's Evangelicals--the ones that have End of the World ideas about the role of Israel--wait patiently for God. To act in His place would be apostasy.

Xians are waiting until Jesus comes again. Until then, they are pro-Israel and pro-Jews.

If the Second Coming happens, we Jews will realize the error of our ways, and convert.

If the Second Coming does not happen, the Xian support continues.

Where is the problem?

I dunno, Judith.  I'm just not sure I could take another president, (including "nuclear engineer" Jimmy Carter and, of course, G.W. Bush), that is incapable of pronouncing nuclear.
