The Welland, Ontario, Seaway Shopping Mall Hallelujah was up loaded to YouTube on November 17, 2010. By Sunday, December 5, 2010, the day Peter first posted the link at Ricochet the hit count stood at 10,500,000 approximately. Today the hit count passed 26,500,000 an increase of 16,000,000 hits in 3 weeks or roughly 762,000 per day. Since November 17, which is roughly five weeks the daily average hit count is 743,000 approximately. At its peak which was around the first part of this week the hits were running at about a million two hundred thousand per day. This is probably a new YouTube record for going viral.

Sadly, when this video is played in some circles it spawns outrage in atheists, who then feel inclined to disabuse the Christians in their midst of the notion of God. I feel that this passion roused in atheists proves how awe inspiring and spiritual the music and this rendition really are. The power of this Welland flash mob comes from the very ordinary place in which this chorus coruscates and thereby demonstrates God's presence in daily life if we but allow ourselves to see.
