This is another great video from Rep. Paul Ryan, although it won't quiet the calls for him to get into the race for President! In a statement, Ryan explains:

This video lays out the clear choice our nation faces on Medicare: Will Medicare become a program in which a board of bureaucrats manages its bankruptcy by denying care to seniors? Or will leaders work together to save and strengthen Medicare by empowering seniors to choose health care plans that work best for them, with less support for the wealthy and more help for the poor and the sick?  House Republicans have advanced solutions to save Medicare. Instead of working with us, the leaders of the Democratic Party have opted to play politics with the health security of America’s seniors.

So, how best to get Ryan's message out when the media environment is so hostile?

There is only one way for Ryan to achieve this. He has to run for the Presidency, seize the bully pulpit, and make his case throughout the land.

What smart production. Remember when Al Gore was training eco-evangelists to go out and deliver the presentation from An Inconvenient Truth? This is what conservatives needs to do with this presentation. Unfortunately, I think there are too many GOP careerists who want to hold their job more than they want to do it.

There is no new Ronald Reagan.  But a ticket of Paul Ryan and Allen West comes awfully close.

One question remains about Ryan (aside from whether or not he can be talked into running), who will replace him in his current position? Being where he is now allowed him to put forward the budget and the reforms he has. Will the next House Budget Committee Chairman be as bold and forward thinking, or would s/he thwart a President Ryan from achieving his lofty goals?

He is like Winston Churchill in the 1930s, telling Britain to get prepared for war with Germany, because like it or not, it's coming.

"...the same kind of system members of Congress enjoy today"

That should be the point Republicans hammer in the media. You can sum up Ryan's Medicare plan in a sentence and convince many off the fence with that one line.

In fact, this is an opportunity to put Democrats on defense. Simply ask the public, "Why do Democrats think this system is good enough for them but not for you?"

Until now I thought he wouldn't have a shot. But now, seeing Ryan's competence, and the shameless perfidy and duplicity of Democrats, I agree, Paul. Our nation's survival is at stake, and we cannot survive any more 'progressivism'. We have to pray Americans will wake up.

Indeed.

Or, Ryan/Rubio.

What is wrong with the Republican party, that it can't do the obvious?

All prices grow to the level that the seller believes that the market can bear. Your price is connected to the amount of money available.

When government subsidizes the product (healthcare, higher education, etc.) there's no longer any ceiling to the amount of funds available. When you couple that with the political pandering that calls your product a civil right, then you have every motive to over-charge, with no damage to your sales. Government claims to help, but their meddling usually makes everything much worse.

Like it or not, running for president is a celebrity-fest. The media loves its liberal bias, but when it comes to celebrity, the media is addicted. The media loves a celebrity, and running for president is like "American Idol" on steroids. It's one of the few occasions in which the media will allow a candidate to speak unfiltered.

Win or lose, Ryan should run. it's the only way to give him a chance to cut through the media's distortion.

I know ... easy for me to urge others to get skewered for a few years. It's selfish of me to ask of him.

My thought, too.  I was imagining the American Idol audience tuning out after 30 seconds.

I trust this will sound right by I feel there is something wrong with the statements " Not a Ronald Reagan" or "Looking for the next Reagan".

Who from the past were we looking for as Ronald Reagan entered the scene.

I believe Milton Freidman when he states that a true conservative is satisfied with the status quo. He, I believe, defined himself as a true liberal, but not the current definition of liberal that we have come to know.

I love Ronald Reagan and long for someone of his stature but we need a man like Paul Ryan or Tim Pawlenty someone for our time this moment.

Ronald Reagan rose to prominence and became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our nation because we as a nation believed in him, spoke out on his behalf and supported him. In other words we elected who we wanted and willed to have the same as the liberals and the left wanted and willed Barak Obama to power.

Our wills are strong and can move us toward and away from many desires. I believe we need to harness the will to ignore protecting our present comforts and move our collective wills toward a candidate who will not promise to "Win the future" but will lead us toward saving the future both economically and more important morally.

As Ann Coulter schooled Rob Long on their premier podcast. We need to get behind  the most socially conservative candidate there is and if there isn't one don't settle on anyone until one emerges and they as a nation will him to office.

Ronald Reagan was there for the nation because we didn't settle for second best.

I hope your listening Mr Ryan. We are both for you and welcome your leadership in protecting our future.

That's a combo I could enthusiastically endorse!

I don't imagine Lt. Col. West's comments on Islam would sit well with the rudderless swing voters, though. Perhaps Rubio would be better.

I love Paul Ryan, but he's a one issue candidate.  I trust him on budget/spending/entitlement reform/tax policy; he has limited experience with other domestic issues and no experience with foreign policy.  I don't want another inexperienced president.  Sorry, he's a no go for me.

True, but it's the biggest issue. John Bolton could be his VP, but it probably wouldn't help him get elected - so he could be Secretary of State, if he can get past the Senate.

Anyway, the problem with Mr Obama is his ideology, rather than his lack of experience.

BTW: Mr Ryan just got a masterclass in Foreign Policy from Mr Netanyahu - I noticed him listening appreciatively - so he can get up to speed, quickly.

I noticed no one is answering this question.  I think we all agree that something along the lines of Ryan's plan is needed to save Medicare and it could be a model for reforming other entitlements.  Fine.

But, the person with the answer to Ms. Hemingway's question has the power to save America.  Is there someone at Ricochet with an answer?

Just now I watched this excellent video on YouTube, and as of right now, it only has 306 views.  This thing needs to go viral.

People like us emailing the link to this video to everyone we know, posting it to our Facebook status, etc.?  Elected Republicans and candidates aggressively pounding this issue (press conferences, in their campaign stops) and putting the Dems on the defense?  Dems think they can intimidate us with their standard "Mediscare" tactics.  We must prove them wrong.

Rush said something today, in response to the Dems claiming that the NY-26 election 'proves' that The American People have rejected the Ryan plan:  He said that today the GOP presidential hopefuls need to publicly state their support for the Ryan plan -- no avoiding it -- and proudly, boldly take a stand.
