@Park 51: Please Explain This
ClaireBerlinski @Park51, please tell me what Imam Feisal was doing at this Hizb ut Tahrir conference. http://is.gd/ehry1.
ClaireBerlinski @Park51, no one who loves peace hangs out with http://english.hizbuttahrir.org/ -- wouldn't you say?
I'm truly curious to know what they have to say about this. Here's a little Hizb ut-Tahrir cheer to brighten your day.
The Obligation of Jihad
Jihad in Islam
First Edition
1429h – 2008
Hizb ut-Tahrir Publications
Bismillah al-Rahman al-Raheem
Preface
Allah (swt) says: T.M.Q “Fight those who believe neither in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” [9-29]
A quick glimpse at the reality of the Muslims today reveals how other nations have contended for them and how the weakest of those nations have plucked up the courage to plunder their resources, sully their honour, shed their blood and desecrate everything sacred in their lives, until they had no sanctity left, despite their great number which exceeds 1.25 billion and a fifth of the world population and despite the abundance of their faculties and material resources. However, they are as the Messenger of Allah (saw) foretold, like “the foam of the water on the surface of the river”. Compared with the days when the Islamic Ummah was an Ummah of Jihad, basing her relationship with other nations and her foreign policy upon it, protecting her authority domestically and carrying her idea to the world to illuminate its path after she herself had been illuminated with the radiance of Islam, its Aqeedah and its system. This is despite the fact that it came into being in one single city amid the mightiest powers, with the least of resources and the smallest of numbers; yet 3000 of them would face 200,000 and would send shivers down their spines. Then they would succeed in single-handedly rocking the two superpowers at that time and subsequently vanquishing them. This went on until the Jihad of the Muslims imprinted in the minds of the Europeans the notion that the army of Islam is invincible.
The darkly amusing angle on this is that if you read the comments at the end of the article, you'll see that the fine fellows of Hizb ut-Tahrir are surely no more enthusiastic about Imam Feisal than we are. Apologies for the translation, it's Google Translate, but you get the drift:
Imam Feisal,-or more precisely, Agent Feisal, you can not see how the Muslims dibunuhi Iraq by U.S. forces? How to strengthen the U.S. fund Israel to hold his feet to take over the Palestinian Jerusalem? How U.S. forces were making small children cry out calling manggil his father, his father hopes to open his eyes again? How to put U.S. foreign politics pemimimpin - puppet leaders in the towns Muslims?
I guess this sort of supports his contention that he's trying to build bridges, albeit ones that are now burning on either end. I'm not saying his pitching up at this conference makes him a criminal or an active enthusiast of the Hizb ut-Tahrir line. It looks more to me like the mission was an exercise in preternatural stupidity, from what I can piece together. Sort of like Lindsey Lohan walking half-naked into the local Hell's Angels bar at closing time to ask them politely if they'd please stop putting those degrading images of women on their biceps, because it's really not nice, and women aren't just sex objects, you know.

Re: @Park 51: Please Explain This
Claire, you're relentless (in a very good way).
And maybe, just maybe, this guy is just really stupid, not really bad. I've been resisting that concession, but geez, if he is a creep, he's a clown, too.

Claire,
I just have to think, if you show up at an HT conference, you know what they're all about and tacitly endorse their aims. Heck, maybe you explicitly endorse their aims. I would love it if a video or a transcript of what Rauf said there were to appear.
