I don't know why this news is from the Daily Mail as opposed to a stateside paper, but we have yet another politician who's been busted sending nekkid pics to an online paramour:

A politician who emailed a woman nude photos of himself that were posted on a GOP activist's website has resigned and said he will consider all legal options to have the pictures taken down.

New Jersey democrat Louis Magazzu, 53, admitted sending the photos to the woman he said he had been corresponding with online for several years.

He claims she requested the pictures but was working with an 'avowed political enemy' at the time and that he did not know.

How does he know he sent these to a "woman"? I always assume that anyone posing as a female online is actually a man. Fact is, I have my doubts about every woman on Ricochet save Claire Berlinski, who I've met in person (and she's even prettier in person than in her pictures).

Anyway, the guy's lawyer -- his lawyer! -- says of the case:

"This is not another Anthony Weiner case," said Cipparone, calling the distribution of Magazzu's nude images "an invasion of privacy both civilly and criminally."

I think you have to get new representation if your lawyer invokes Weiner.

Is this just going to be the standard operating procedure now? That a few politicians a year are felled by sending pictures of their naughty bits? Ugh!

Mollie, Mollie, Mollie... How do you expect us all to stay within the COC if you are going to soft toss us pitches over the plate with lines like a "your lawyer invokes Weiner"?

Ah, I think this may explain why Ricochet refused to let me use the first avatar I uploaded....

It's tempting to laugh but I cannot help being horrified by all these incidents. How can grown men engage in this sort of behaviour? This person is 53 years old! Is he completely without a sense of dignity, does he have even an ounce of self-respect? The nation might as well be electing our political leaders directly out of High School.

The Daily Mail...or the Daily Male?

Ah, online sex scandals....they bring out the worst puns in all of us....

I almost pine for the good old days when politicians had the courage to actually sleep around. Now they eye my liberty with the same greedy voyeurism as their, ahem, "online paramours".

The congressman claims that ... she requested nude pictures of him? And I guess there's nothing else for that except to send them? But of course ...

This really is a story of the age. Photography is over 150 years old and whatever inclinations folks may have had in the past were tempered because few developed their own film. Really, who wanted to share their bits with photo guy at the corner drugstore?

Digital imaging has removed the third person fear factor. But you had better trust the person you're sending to and hope that it is a lifetime loving relationship. And if you're already in politics - just don't do it.

How odd that not until the 7th commenter that this gets asked:

And Mollie, how do we know you're not a man too?

I am told a reliable way to test whether a woman online is really a woman is to inquire about her, um, clothes size. Most men don't understand ladies' clothes sizes, and therefore try to avoid the answer.

Real women are offended by the question.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.

Mollie and Diane--whom I've also met in person--are both women and both prettier than their pictures. This is a fact. Also, you can spend whole days cooped up in a small bus with Mollie, having had very little sleep, and not get annoyed with her about anything. (I have not had the chance to test Diane this way, but she was terrific for a brief cross-town drive.)

Yeah, yeah, with men it's always a size thing.

It sure seems that a lot of men (quite often Democratic politicians) just have a problem  keeping certain impulses in check. I guess nothing will change any time soon. Wonder what Anthony Weiner has been doing recently?
