Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
You should see the ads that popped up around James P.'s "Guidosexual" post!

Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
Oh dear, and I had just posted on Peter Robinson's Mattress conversation about being courteous to sponsors.

One of the admins can explain better than I can but the ads are networked and pop up based on algorithms that respond to text in the posts. You might notice that in terms of political ads there is a perfect mix of far right and far left ads as the computer is trying to figure us all out. Its pretty entertaining.

Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
So I shall be on watch for the "pretty entertaining" items to be advertised.
Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
Our ads are served by Google AdSense. They are served based on the content that appears on page and in some cases, on what you have recently searched for. We have the ability to block categories of ads, and we can block specific advertisers, but usually only after the ad appears. We will go ahead block this particular ad so Claire does not feel The Google is mocking her.
Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
Well, if you're going to be that way about it, how about getting rid of the Ab-Flab Solutions one that seems to stalk me? I swear I'm not searching for that, though I probably should be. (Kidding. I'm fine with the ads. Like Trace, I find them entertaining.)
Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
Well, let's test this thing. I'll try mentioning a few products and services and see if anything pops up. Let's see, how about patio furniture? I love sitting on a patio on really good furniture. Yes sir, I love my patio.
I'm also interested in traveling to Denmark so that I can meet some really nice Danes. I hear Denmark is quite a place.
I've never head many problems with corns and bunions, but I'd sure like to find a good product to treat them before they develop. That would apply to warts, too. Why wait for warts to spring up before attempting to find a really effective wart medicine?
If I hadn't become an iconic game show host, I would have gone to dental school. Drilling, grinding, filling and cleaning; yeah, that's the life. Dentistry would have been a perfect choice.
I wish I could grow vegetables in my home. I don't like the outdoors, so I'd much rather have radishes in the rec room, broccoli in the bathroom or lettuce in the library. An indoor vegetable garden would make my life complete.
That's it. 199 words.

Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
I think you're going to need some help to really get the ad engine to let go of mattresses. So allow me to offer some assistance.
There are no online dental schools of which I am aware, however there are quite a few for-profit schools at which you can study to become a dental assistant. The dental assisting field is growing and for an unskilled worker having trouble finding a job, dental assisting offer a really excellent long-term future.
As for the wart medication, I think dealing with warts and bunions is something best done indoors with your vegetables, rather than outside on your new patio furniture set -- all least if you are planning to entertain outdoors. Of course if you fly to Denmark for vacation, you might find the Danes perfectly comfortable with your treating your foot ailments in full public view. Perhaps in Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.

Anything that pokes at the edges of the University of Phoenix is just too easy. Given enough posts, UoP will take over the entire site...
Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
Who needs ads? I've got Trace. Thanks.
Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
Pow! Sallie Mae ad appears!
But I'm more concerned about Pat's interest in patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school. So much so that I'm going to repeat it.
Patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school. Patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school. Patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school. Patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school. Patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school. Patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school. Patio furniture and home indoor gardens and dentistry school.
Now check it out over there --------------------------------------------------------------->

Logo, darling, I ain't that sensitive. No need to block them. We'll deal with it the Open Society way -- by debating the issue. I'm persuaded my arguments are good enough that these pet merchants don't stand a chance. Let them subsidize us while I undermine them.

Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
No Danish tourist bureau ads but I am seeing discounted airfares... so we've got dentistry and vacation travel covered. No we just need the warts and patio furniture... and maybe hydroponic gardening, though that might be a stretch.

Re: Our advertisers are mocking me
The ad that I see here is for Progressive Insurance, doubtless responding to all of the loving things we say about "progressives".
I, for one, think that it would be great to get a lot of Ricochet ad revenue from Progressive. As long as everyone here is smart enough not to buy anything from them- given that the profits end up matrching George Soros' contributions to the Left.
That means the official statement is "Nobody buy any Progressive insurance!"

Is this [free love] numerology or free [love numerology]? Or advertisers need to narrow their focus!
