“I find it easier to believe in God than to believe Hamlet was deduced from the molecular structure of a mutton chop.” ― William F. Buckley, Jr.

Due to the unpredictable nature of freight, made all the more unpredictable by the unsteady state of the economy, it seems I won't be spending Easter with family after all.  Such is the nature of the line of work to which I've become so enamored, but which exacts a personal toll all the same.  Freight changes, but thankfully a family's love doesn't.  Circumstances in life change, but thankfully the enduring and holy love we celebrate at Easter doesn't.

We are taught that, "Greater love hath no man than that he lay down his life for his friends."  This scripture, made flesh by Our Lord, is an inspiration to the believer.  At Easter, we celebrate His triumph over the grave which grants eternal salvation against which neither the gates of Hell, nor Mr. Obama's looming Independent Payment Advisory Board (which ever comes first), will prevail.  For that, I am eternally grateful.  Happy Easter!

"Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here;  he has risen!" - Luke 24:5-6.

Happy Easter indeed, Dave!

Dogsbody, He is risen indeed! The great thing about Easter is that I can celebrate it all year. We know that we will conquer death as well because He is alive. He's enabled us to do what He did.

I knew we could count on you for a good Easter post, Dave. Thanks.

Dave Carter: At Easter, we celebrate His triumph over the grave which grants eternal salvation against which neither the gates of Hell, nor Mr. Obama's looming Independent Payment Advisory Board (which ever comes first), will prevail.

Different persons are created to know and bear witness to different aspects of God's love. My faith is that of an old "soldier of Christ" in that I see life as a millenia-old war between Good and Evil. Ironically, I take much comfort in this view, because I know the war has already been won. Fortunate is the soldier who can be certain of victory and peace.

Dave Carter: Freight changes, but thankfully a family's love doesn't.  Circumstances in life change, but thankfully the enduring and holy love we celebrate at Easter doesn't.

During today's Mass, I wondered at the phrase, "Blessed be God." How can we bless God? Don't all blessing come from Him?

We are the blessings. God created wonderful beings to love and be loved. When we accept that love and return it as family, we become His joy.

I am unworthy of His gift of salvation but since I'd hate to offend anyone I think I'll keep it. Happy Easter folks. Laugh and love in the beauty of our world and, if so moved, shed tears for our Lord and His sacrifice.

"As in Adam all die.  Even so in Christ shall all be made alive."

"Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed, in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must needs put on incorruptibility, and this mortal put on immortality.  But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruptibility, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the word written: Death has been swallowed up in victory.  Where, O death, is thy sting? where, O death, thy victory?  Now the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin the law; but thanks to God, who gives us the victory by our Lord Jesus Christ."

"I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."

Happy Easter to you too, Maggie.  I had been wondering if you were still with us, and am delighted to know that you're a part of the gang still.

That phrase, and its variations, have always caught me off balance as well.  Who am I, after all, to presume to bestow blessings on my Creator?   You've explained this better than anything I've heard from the pulpit.  Thank you kindly, and Happy Easter.
