Doug Mataconis at Outside the Beltway:

[...] tucked into the health care reform law is a change to the tax laws that will vastly increase tax reporting requirements for businesses nationwide. Despite several complaints from small business that this will require unreasonable administrative costs to be incurred by small businesses, Congress has failed in an effort to repeal the new law.

Can some enterprising lawyer in the most litigious society on earth not make a case that reporting requirements such as those limned above are an unconstitutional imposition--a taking if you will--of value from a citizen. Take for example the referenced lawyer, say he bills at three hundred bucks an hour and has to spend twelve hours a month filling out forms for the government, the cost to him is $3,600. Given that the state uses police powers to enforce compliance, a case might be made that this sort of taking is, wait for it, armed robbery. Wouldn't you just love to see some IRS guys perp-walked into the slammer? The question, of course, would be where relative to child molesters would the IRS guys be placed on the prison pecking order.
