Obamacare Fail, PowerPoint Edition
Democrats are running scared. November is starting to look like a bloodbath. And most of the blame, they think, goes to Obamacare. So what to do? Well, first, hire pollsters. And then, have them assemble a PowerPoint presentation to deliver to key allies of the Obama administration, highlighting the ways in which Obamacare can be sold -- or, frankly, resold -- to the American voter. The PowerPoint is here. It's worth looking at. From Politico:
The confidential presentation, available in full here and provided to POLITICO by a source on the call, suggests that Democrats are acknowledging the failure of their predictions that the health care legislation would grow more popular after its passage, as its benefits became clear and rhetoric cooled. Instead, the presentation is designed to win over a skeptical public and to defend the legislation — in particular, the individual mandate — from a push for repeal.
The presentation concedes that groups typically supportive of Democratic causes — people under 40, non-college-educated women and Hispanic voters — have not been won over by the plan. Indeed, it stresses repeatedly, many are unaware that the legislation has passed, an astonishing shortcoming in the White House's all-out communications effort.
But I can't resist posting the last slide. It's a list of "don't do's" for Democratic candidates running in November.
So, to rephrase the last two bullet points: Don't call opponents to Obamacare racists, andDon't promise it'll make health care costs go down, or reduce the deficit. Now they tell them? I'm starting to feel sorry for Democrats running in November.

Re: Obamacare Fail, PowerPoint Edition
Rob, you mentioned that Obamacare needed to be resold to the American people. Remember that well over half the population was against this to begin with. You can't resell what isn't sold in the first place. You were correct to say that democrats need to try and sell this to the public if they are going to have a snowball's chance in.. the desert.

I just loved the power point about the "Challenging Environment."
It led with "Straightforward 'policy' defenses fail to be moving voters' opinions about the law."
Roughly translated, that seems to mean that people don't like the law when it's explained to them.
Apparently, however, people just love it when "credible, not complicated, relatable to the audience you are speaking to, and first person voice preferred" anecdotes are delivered.
So Dems should tell first person fables to convince people that a detested law is a good thing?
Our candidates have pulses, right? What else could they possibly need?

Don't say those things because none of them are true. They had to hire a PR firm to tell them that?

Have you noticed that the Left's "Party of No" meme disappeared into oblivion?
Democrats were convinced that America was enthused by their agenda and that painting Republicans as obstructionists was a winning message.
But the more they pushed their agenda and the more Republicans stood against it, the more the polls shifted against the Dems and all they were left with was the "D" stands for forward and R stands for back" meme.
Which, of course, is a total loser outside of their base.

Surely the graphic in that slide is showing that the barn door is shut but the horse has long bolted.

We face a bitter harvest from the Democrats' perfidy and corruption, but if Americans learn once and for all time that Keynesian economics, top-down control and manipulation of industries, and manufactured 'rights' - with their ensuing entitlements - are a witch's brew of lethal intoxication, it will have been worth it. Probably.

What exactly is "congratulatory language"? Whom should Democrats avoid congratulating?

Seriously! Suddenly, Humza, it strikes me that our society suffers from a bad case of more PR, more PR problems.
