Over at the Corner, Andy McCarthy asks, "What part of this wasn't true when Obama was lining Qaddafi's pockets?"  From the president's speech:

For more than four decades, the Libyan people have been ruled by a tyrant – Moammar Gaddafi. He has denied his people freedom, exploited their wealth, murdered opponents at home and abroad, and terrorized innocent people around the world – including Americans who were killed by Libyan agents. Last month, Gaddafi’s grip of fear appeared to give way to the promise of freedom. In cities and towns across the country, Libyans took to the streets to claim their basic human rights. As one Libyan said, “For the first time we finally have hope that our nightmare of 40 years will soon be over.”

Was Obama such a vigorous opponent of the Gaddafi regime back in the days when his pastor was a welcome guest?

Remember way, way back when, that moment when Barack Obama said that Qaddafi lost the confidence of the Libyan people as well as the legitimacy to lead? Presumably that means that before then, Obama regarded Qaddafi's rule as perfectly legitimate and believed that the Libyan people had supported him through the decades. That moment seems like only yesterday... but in fact it was the day before yesterday, in Obama's Saturday weekly address. Soon enough he will give a speech saying we have always demanded regime change in Iran and Syria, we've always regarded Chavez's rule by decree illegitimate, and we've always been at war with Eastasia.

Visiting Libya is hardly a crime. Condi Rice went in 2008 as an honored guest.

Another 100% platitude compliant speech.

Oh, sorry — he didn't use "community". Rating decreased to 98.6%.

What part of that was untrue when Andy McCarthy wasn't complaining about it?

Sorry, but the stench of partisanship emanating from the right's new found dovishness is overwhelming right now.
