drunk college

Apart from noting that the Chronicle of Higher Education really is the gift that keeps on giving, this article really needs no further explanation. Other than a graphic of course.

Nothing will save us from the brain dead voter. Only the brain dead could possibly approve of our Sophomore-in-Chief.

Obama's approval rating rises among college students -- This headline reinforces my belief to not trust anyone under 30. My only response to them is to say "Wait until you graduate, get a job, and start paying taxes."

I hate it when women cry. I just knew I was going to offend somebody by saying that. OK OK.. Present company excluded.!

Why should this surprise us?  Most of them are recipients of federal subsidies (student loans) just like the public employee union members.

My first vote as an 18 year old was in 1984. I got an absentee ballot since I was in college out of state and proudly punched the chad for Ronald Reagan.  Just about all my friends did, as well.  Them were different times.  I went to a Catholic school, which helped at the time, but I doubt my alma mater reflects differently from the story above nowadays.

If I ever have an opinion that is shared by college students, I re-think that opinion.

They haven't yet figured out that the real effect of those loans is a wealth transfer from them to the schools.  They have to pay the loans back some day. The loans shift the demand curve by allowing students to pay tuition rates that would otherwise be unaffordable; the schools raise tuition; the liberal academics make more money, and it all comes out of the students' future income.

Did they poll the for-profit colleges ? Or just strafe them ?

:( As a hispanic (thank God the gov't doesn't recognize the difference between Spanish and Latino), low-income college student, I take exception to that! I simply use the options afforded to me. It doesn't have much influence on my politics. Just because I live in a socialist republic doesn't mean I vote that way.

On a side note: Politically, colleges aren't as universally liberal as many of us make them out to be. Most of my professors this semester are about as politically conservative as they come, granted they are too terrified to share their views directly due to fear of a legal reprisals.

The administrators of course are practically communists. Today they gave out some 40-minute survey (I completed it in 15 min :D) in which I was asked, on a scale from "Very good" to "Not at all", how ethnically diverse the campus was. At one point it even asked how many "deep" conversations I've had with minority students. Good grief.

Yeah...ok.

His bracket beat their bracket and they have no other tool with which to measure.

Lucky. When I was 18 years old in 1996, I had to settle for Bob Dole. :(
