Obama Says Hindsight '20/20'. So Is Foresight, Sometimes.
First there's this National Journal story showing that President Obama was warned about Solyndra even before he gave a speech there:
“A number of us are concerned that the president is visiting Solyndra,” Steve Westly, managing partner of Westly Group, wrote in an e-mail to Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett on May 24, 2010, a day before the president's well publicized trip to Solyndra. “[T]here is an increasing concern about the company because their auditors, Coopers and Lybrand, have issued a ‘going concern’ letter … Many of us believe the company’s cost structure will make it difficult for them to survive long term.”
Compare that with what Obama told ABC News yesterday:
"Hindsight is always 20/20," Obama told "Good Morning America" anchor George Stephanopoulos in an interview broadcast online Monday. "It went through the regular review process and people felt that it was a good bet."
The other story that's falling apart is Eric Holder's testimony under oath about when he learned about the Fast & Furious program. Five months ago, he said he'd "probably" only learned about it a "few weeks ago." He was off by just a smidge:
It's bad when it looks like you lied under oath. It's really bad when you're the attorney general.

The media isn't going to call them on anything. They're taking the attitude that so long as they keep a straight face, they can utter any nonsense that gets them through the news cycle. After a couple days, the media will forget and go on to something else, so they only need to stall for a short time.
Obfuscation ... the essence of leadership.

I wonder if Valerie Jarrett didn't know what a "going concern" letter was, and was too proud to ask? She sure seems the type. Or did she have some financial stake in the outcome?

It would not surprise me to learn that the Solyndra loan was the result of corruption not just mere incompetent. That said the idea behind this Bush era loan program is quixotic. The idea that the government should remove money from the capital markets where it would be most efficiently allocated and have bureaucrats and politicians allocate it for “new technology” invites Solyndras and worse. Both parties use this farcical explanation because it gives them the opportunity to buy votes. I notice the GOP condemns the Solyndra case, but is careful not to find fault with the loan program itself. The era of big government is not over. Both parties want to keep it going.

That's why we need someone with that thing we call *experience* to lead the country. That is the thing that lets you reuse hindsight where otherwise foresight would be called for in various circumstances.

Mollie, are you certain that Obama has 20/20 hindsight? If it's not on the teleprompter, is there any evidence that Obama has the vision to see anything past, present or future.

Well, if being told flat out that he shouldn't go to Solyndra on account of how it will implode in a few months wasn't clear enough, what would be?
