I've noticed a slew of these popping up in my Palo Alto neighborhood:

Four years ago, it was an outbreak of these:

Notice the difference?

Four years ago, you couldn't miss the name -- apt, for an election that was largely about cult of personality.

This time around, it's not about personality. And the man won't be running on his record.

At 40% in the polls, Obama still gets one initial on a bumper sticker, plus his name/web site in small print.

And if he tanks another five points? Are we looking at "Re-Elect the President"?

Interesting that there are a lot of them in Palo Alto.

I myself have seen only a handful of these in San Francisco. I still see far more Obama '08 and Obama/Biden '08 stickers.

Nice. In all seriousness this is prettier- I like the gradient. Though I don't like the vertical serif at the end of the "2". What the heck is that?

Who knew being able to use Adobe Illustrator could be so dangerous? What with the logo and the "Hope" portrait and all. Whoever made those logos should have been elected in president '08, not Obama.

If he tanks another five points I hope we see these.

RE-NOMINATE HILLARY stickers.

That would be a hoot.

The 'O' logo is still incredibly popular, however.  The new bumper stickers reflect this.

The Flavor-Aid drinkers will always vote for the 'O', regardless of the incompetence of the man the 'O' stands for.

The 'O' a brand, like the Coca Cola script, the Starbucks mermaid, the Nike Swoosh, and the Golden Arches.

Do not underestimate the power of the 'O' to bring in votes. We live in a consumer society, and the 'O' logo stands for consumer democracy.

In the same vein, I find it very interesting that his campaign uses a '.com' web address instead of a '.org'.  Hmm...

Interesting. I took a two day, overnight seminar in youth campaigning, one thing I took away was never, ever, use capital sans serif fonts, especially in small print. It's as if they're begging people not to visit his sight.

Interesting that you noticed the ".com" suffix, Misthiocracy. If it is significant, might it have something to do with Citizens United?

So, in 2008 he was the donut, and in 2012 he's the hole?

I think you're reaching here.  There can't be a big portion of the population that doesn't immediately associate the 2012 logo with Barack Obama.

The brand is only too well known. I just wonder who is still willing to eat the dog food they're being fed.

Someone should really do a study on bumper stickers, though I'm not sure whether it should fall under the discipline of psychology or political science.

Here in very conservative Colorado Springs, bumpers were relatively O'blemish-free until after the 2008 election.  My non-scientific estimate would be the numbers roughly doubled.

I haven't thought about what event might have changed things, but at least a year ago, they disappeared again.  I think there may be two cars I see regularly with Obama/Biden 2008 and I may have seen one with 2O12.  I tell my kids, there go the true believers.

Although I live in your neighborhood I've not noticed many 2012 stickers.

In 2009 I printed a large address label with the word "LESS" and searched for a "HOPE" sticker to deface.  I was too late they'd all been scraped.
