OWN, the Agony

Coming this month to the Oprah Winfrey Network:
"Unfaithful: Stories of Betrayal" -- premieres tonight (presumably, not being watched in the Weiner household);
"Finding Sarah" -- premieres June 12 (the saga of Britain's Fergie, not America's Palin . . .)
"Ryan and Tatum: The O'Neals" -- premieres June 19
"Becoming Chaz" -- the artist formerly known as Chastity Bono
I've changed my mind on water-boarding and the concept of "enhanced interrogation techniques".
There's a quicker way to make the bad guys in Gitmo crack: just force them to watch this tripe.

Re: OWN, the Agony
The point of making Gitmo prisoners watch this -- which would be an excellent policy, IMHO -- is that after an amazingly short while, they would get sucked into this worldview. Supplement with a daily diet of soap operas (and maybe telenovelas), and you will be able to get them to give up the most secret details of their organization and its missions just by threatening to withhold the revelation of whether the baby Betty Ann is carrying really is Dr. Lawrence's.

Re: OWN, the Agony
I tried. I really tried to enjoy watching Oprah since she burst on the scene in '86. But I always ended up wanting to commit suicide after a couple of shows.

On the other hand, do remember that Oprah has built an empire selling this to people who are willing consumers in the free market. If she wants to build a TV station on this nonsense, there are people who, for various mysterious reasons, will actually work for the money with which to pay for the experience.
