Numbers from Winnebago County Show Wisconsin Judicial Election Far from Settled

Curious. Winnebago county website has a better Prosser number than the AP. Other counties have been finding errors and adjusting since the election, causing totals to wiggle around. I think the latest has Kloppenburg up about 203 votes, but if this Winnebago county number is the right one, then Prosser gains 244 net votes, putting him in front. That said, there will probably be more bouncing around as counties recount and re-check the numbers. Milwaukee's Journal Sentinel has a good article today on the process. They also have the AP county by county number, with the conflicting Winnebago county number. Hat tip to sharp-eyed Greg Giroux of Bloomberg who saw the number and posted it on Twitter. I believe that, with things this close, there will always be some "found" votes for Kloppenburg at the last moment to put her over the top. That is how it works today. If it is close, the Democrats cheat to win. It has now happened too many times since 1960 for me to turn a blind eye.

Great news. I don't live in Wisconsin, but I stayed up until 1 AM Mountain following this race. Isn't if amazing that a judicial election in Wisconsin has great import for the residents of Wisconsin, and critical symbolic importance to conservatives throughout the country? Go Prosser!
Question to someone who knows: are there absentee ballots in judicial races in Wisconsin? If so, what's the expectation on which way they'll lean?

It is my understanding that Wisconsin voter registration can be done on the day of an election and does not require a high level of identification to finalize registration. If an already registered voter vouches for the person applying for registration, then under Wisconsin law, that is satisfactory identification. No photo ID is required. You have to wonder how many "voters" were bused in by the various unions actively engaged in "get out the vote" projects, which is a euphemism for election fraud. Think "spiking" the ballot boxes with fraudulently cast ballots. It will be interesting to see if any followup is done to verify that only legitimately registered voters participated in the election.

As I have posted before, my husband and I directly observed a great deal of voter fraud when we lived in Milwaukee. It is massively frustrating. When is our country going to start to take voter fraud seriously?

Any election this close deserves a recount; the frustrating part is when bags of uncounted votes begin turning up in the trunks of cars.

Scott Walker should leap upon any reports of voter fraud and ask the legislature to require proper identification and to outlaw registration on the day of the vote.

Looks like a major bump for Prosser if this is correct. It would also explain why those of us watching returns that night noticed Waukesha's precinct totals go up without their vote tally changing.

I read that in Dane County, where there was in Madison a hotly contested mayoral election and also county elections, ten thousand voters voted in the judicial election who failed to vote in the other elections. Someone should check to see what percentage of the 10,000 voted for Prosser. Methinks I smell a rat.

It is true. I am listening to the press conference of the election officials now. Prosser has gained over 7,0000 net votes.

April 7, 2011 5:29 P.M. By Christian Schneider
After Tuesday night’s Wisconsin Supreme Court election, a computer error in heavily Republican Waukesha County failed to send election results for the entire City of Brookfield to the Associated Press. The error, revealed today, would give incumbent Supreme Court Justice David Prosser a net 7,381 votes against his challenger, attorney Joanne Kloppenburg. On Wednesday, Kloppenburg declared victory after the AP reported she finished the election with a 204-vote lead, out of nearly 1.5 million votes cast.

While many believed a recount was inevitable, the addition of the Brookfield votes for Prosser could push the justice’s lead beyond the legal threshold that would trigger an automatic recount. Under state law, Kloppenburg could still ask for a recount up to three days after the official canvass, but would have to pay for it herself.
