From the Wall Street Journal:

Calorie restriction confers health benefits to monkeys but doesn't increase their life span, a new study suggests, undermining some people's belief that a sharply restricted diet could help them live longer.

Confirming my maxim that life is too short for tofu.

Not mentioned in the study is the true dietary make up of the calorie restricted simians.  In addition, there are many cardiologists and health professionals that are linking animal protein to various diseases and these monkeys were not fed much or any of that at all regardless of control group vs restricted group.

I have come to believe that animal protein indeed is an issue with regard to longevity.

It's impossible to have profiteroles without chocolate sauce.  Never been done.

"Life is too short for tofu."

That, Austin, is worthy of embroidering on fancy pillow.

Woody Allen was right - from the movie Sleepers.

Everything we think we know about healthy eating is wrong.  Saturated fat is good for you.  Protein and fat from animals is good for you.  Carbohydrates make you fat.

Had to go to the dictionary to see what a profiterole was. Seems like caramel or rassberry sauce would work equally well. DocJay the evidence against eggs is not convincing to me. I like egg white omelettes for the same reason I like thin crust pizzas but life without animal protein? Come on, what could be worse than a life without bacon?

Life without bacon would be almost as meaningless and empty as life without sex or Ricochet. Put that on your pillow, Peter.

Mrs. Pessimist just pointed out that for me life with Ricochet has been a lot like life without sex so I am going to have to work on this argument.

Sex?  That's just sublimated Ricochet.

Well now some well meaning government busy body will make a law telling people what they can and can not eat.

Profiteroles?  No, sir.

In my house, for dessert, we have ice cream. Homemade ice cream.

That's why the menu says "Profiteroles au chocolat", not "Profiteroles à nu."
