Talk about awkward. Newt Gingrich was signing some books in Minneapolis when a gay rights activist approached the former Speaker of the House and doused him with a sea of glitter. "Feel the rainbow, Newt. Stop the hate. Stop anti-gay politics," the activist said. The Associated Press was on hand to capture the moment:

To his credit, Newt kept his composure, and continued signing books. But he did respond, somewhat sardonically, saying that "it's nice to live in a free country."

Is this what the Left means by civility?

Tommy De Seno

Oh...Ok.   Now Newt will be persuaded to that guy's point of view.

Good grief.

In defense of the protester, Newt's table really does look fabulous now!

Apparently the activist has a history of such "civility":

Local prankster, Nick Espinosa, who also goes by the name Robert Erickson, said he doused the couple in rainbow confetti because anti-gay rhetoric doesn't belong in Minneapolis.

Espinosa is the same prankster that threw a stash of pennies at Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer during a campaign event last year.

They sure do love their soft targets don't they.  I dare them to try this with the President or any lefty politician holding a similar position.

These kind of antics are entirely corrosive to their agenda and further illustrates their movement as a partisan one, not a freedom one.

We welcome all people here in Minneapolis.  Sometimes we are so nice we even decorate them with lovely, colorful gifts.

What do you expect in a place where the city council is controlled by the Green party and Al Franken got about 70% of the vote?

Was this "activist" arrested? Was this glitter shower not a battery?
