A few weeks ago, I made a little video about the climate change conference in Cancun. Why, you might ask? I was in Istanbul, after all, what would I know about the climate change conference in Cancun? And why am I posting it now, long after the conference is over? Well, that's a long story. Suffice to say it's best you not know how the sausages are made, okay?

Two surprises:

(1) The sherpa have a new recruit

(2) Claire uses a Blue Yeti microphone. Claire, how do you avoid feedback during skype calls?

Claire, you're the fetchingest blue yeti I've ever seen.

Can't help noticing that blue hat under your hood looks sorta turban-y. To this ignorant Western fool's eyes, you're looking dashingly Turkish.

Is there no heat in your apartment?  Maybe you should set fire to the furniture just to give the landlord a subtle hint.

Also, if the Turks are utterly indifferent to the climate conference in Cancun, that is a big point in their favor.  They are smarter than Al Gore (no great feat, admittedly).

I suppose this isn't the time to mention that this week, high temps here in balmy San Antonio have been in the mid-70s. ;)

The heat is great, but that day was so cold that it overpowered all the radiators in the apartment. Today happens to be gorgeous, balmy and sunny, so all's well.

What is the weather usually like this time of year, or three weeks ago?

Usually it's cold, wet, and dark. It was a generally mild fall, though, and today it was heartbreakingly beautiful.

Wait.  Isn't that Katie Couric live from Istanbul with a bluish mongoose curled on her head for warmth?

36 degrees, light snow from my part of flyover country--we do have snow plows, however.
