Courthouse News Service reports that Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) is suing several companies affiliated with a House office building cafeteria for $150,000 for negligence over an "unfit and unwholesome" sandwich wrap he bought in April 2008 that contained an olive pit.

Kucinich says he purchased the wrap at the Longworth Office Building cafeteria nearly three years ago and after biting the pit "sustained serious and permanent dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures, and has sustained other damages as well, including significant pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment."

The ex-Cleveland mayor and former presidential candidate is suing the cafeteria's operator, Restaurant Associates, as well as its parent company, Compass Group USA. He is also suing two food suppliers, Performance Food Group Co. and Foodbuy LLC.

Talk about frivolous lawsuits!  Adam Freedman advised the GOP to call Obama's bluff when it comes to reining in frivolous lawsuits.  Well, this is Kucinich's own special way of calling the president's bluff.

What will the president do?  Simply ignore the suit?  Or call Dennis into his office to slap him on the wrist and tell him to cut it out?

The trial lawyer's trade group (American Association for Justice) was Kucinich's biggest donor (in a 4-way tie, actually) in the last election cycle. Not a huge amount, but still.

So the cafeteria has the responsibility to ensure that olives will never, ever, ever have pits? I think Richard Epstein and John Yoo would council Rep. Kucinich to forget about it.

Coincidentally, the voters of the 10th Congressional District of Ohio are suing Rep. Kucinich on the same grounds.

I'm not sure that Kucinich is responsible for the lack of enjoyment in Cleveland.

I was just about to make that same joke regarding his tenure as mayor.

On the positive side, at least he isn't proposing legislation. That's progress for Dennis.

If it wasn't for all the hateful rhetoric on talk radio and Fox News, this tragedy never would have happened.

I live in the Kucinich district. In a way, it's fitting. Much of Cleveland's identity is built around having sports teams that can't catch a break and win a championship. What a perfect parallel to also have such a crazy man representing us. As awful as his political views are, I can say I feel a sense of pride when I hear of all the libs in southern California who drive around with "Dennis!" stickers on their car.

Hello from Westlake, Greg.... Strangely, I agree with you: I used to hate the guy when he was our little secret, but now he's gone national so it's "Hey, that's our nut!" A similar phenomenon might explain why deep down we all kinda want the Cavs set the NBA record for consecutive losses (which they will).

A legal fund has been established to defray the costs of an additional lawsuit which is being filed by the olive pit against Dennis Kucinich. Alleging grievous injury to his "hard side"and the bitemarks left by the titanium dentures that Mr.Kucinich was wearing, Oliver Pitt also claims that the "inside of Mr Kucinich's mouth appears to be some sort of interstellar maintenance port, or possibly a "UFO garage". He submitted this information to the FAA, as his attorney was filing suit with the FDA.

Mr.Pitt additionally is seeking a full apology from Mr Kucinich and  $250,000 in medical costs to be incurred as he requires a "reinsertion" into a younger olive still on a tree, preferably in Greece. Mr.Pitts parents are from Greece. Mr.Pitt immigrated to America legally from Kalamata in 2010 and resided in Maryland. His wife, Pimento, works in the "Stuff business" in the food industry. They have three children.

Donations are being accepted at the Olive Branch of Lending Tree.

So an olive branch is symbolic of peace, but an olive pit is symbolic of money?

A lot of folks in Wisconsin used to feel the same way about Feingold, "he's a crazy lefty that wants socialized medicine, but he's our crazy lefty that wants socialized medicine".

Then he actually voted to socialize our medicine, and we got ticked off.
