This is a perfect, almost too-perfect encapsulation of what's ailing the Left: a willful inability to confront reality.

Matthews thinks that it was the Republicans who pushed Obama to the left. He thinks it was a dirty trick, forcing a moderate guy so far out of the mainstream.

There's so much here to unpack -- the delusional Obama worship; the childish insistence that someone else "did it" to him; the forgetfulness about facts -- Obama never offered a health care compromise, never offered any thing at all, and threw his lot in at the very start with the greasy, fatty, utterly useless stimulus package; and the hilarious, insane capper -- "They'd better not do it again," shouts Matthews, spittle flying.

They'd "better not?" Or, what, Chris? Or what will the consequences be? Because on the Planet Earth that I live on, the Republicans won a sweeping victory on Tuesday. Personally, I like those consequences.

It's not just an inability to confront reality, but also an unwillingness to accept responsibility for anything.

At church this past Sunday, the pastor delivered a sermon with how essential it is to take responsibility for our actions and to be held accountable. He said that without practicing these things regularly in life, we cannot have joy. This might explain a lot about the current state of America.

In the beginning of A Christmas Carol, Ebeneezer Scrooge is approached by two men seeking a charitable gift. He asks if the Union Houses, the Poor Houses and the prisons are still in operation and he is assured that they are.

"I help to support the establishments I have mentioned -- they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there."

That's the perfect analogy for the welfare state. God's mandate to each individual to care for his brother is replaced by the collective government action. Why should I be responsible for anything? My lot and the lot of others is the blame and responsibility of society as a whole. Therefore when I vote Democrat knowing that they will forcibly transfer wealth from one class to another haven't I done God's will? Why should I take responsibility for my life when I don't even want to take responsibility for my soul?

I'm not a medical doctor, but I think that tingle has traveled right up the leg and into the brain; the subject is now evincing uncontrollable spasms, akin to Tourette's.

Dial "D" for Denial!

As Diane said, the bluest of the blue (States, Politicians, and Pundits) cannot face the reality that their solutions do not work, and are trying to convince themselves that they failed only because they did not try hard enough. For instance (To borrow a metaphor from the President) the Dems of California, drunk on their own largesse, have driven the state into the ditch. And in order to get the car home, they are handing the keys over to the batty old grandfather who should have had his license revoked long ago. It ain't going to be pretty!

As for Matthews, the "D" could also stand for Desperation, leaving him to grasp at memes of convenience to explain away his failed beliefs....

Not just any Republican Rob. I really think that Chris, if he drinks enough unleaded Starbucks, can work his way back to the book of Genesis and realize that the Serpent GWB made Obama the lefty he is.

I'm beginning to think the D stands for Depends, the undergarment, and that Chris is prepping for a long stint in Adult Daycare with 3 meals a day.

With the news that Matthews takes shilling for President Obama to new heights, and Olbermann supports Democrats, how could we ever guess what comes next?

If I wake up tomorrow and learn that Vice President Biden isn't really a member of Mensa, I don't know what I'll do with myself.

Where's Flip Wilson when you really need him? Well, actually, this should help:

(Mr. Matthews seems to have come down with a slight case of Geraldine-itis)

Obama could have destroyed the Republican party if he had taken a different course. Instead, he forced the voters to the Republican party and tea party.

I just remember (quite fondly) Hugh Hewitt's producer say of the "Washington gets all wee-weed up" remark "It's the Incontinental Congress".

When did we snag Hot Air? That's kind of cool. Next up: Commentary.

As to the Wrath of Chris Matthews, I will quote my favourite character: "Prime Minister's Question Time. Very frightening. Like being mugged by a guinea pig."
