News Item: Axelrod Claims RomneyCare Was 'Template' For ObamaCare
David Axelrod is singing the praises of “Romneycare” – yet again.
The former White House senior adviser smiled and laughed as he twisted the knife in Mitt Romney on Friday, saying that the ex-Massachusetts governor’s health plan “inspired” President Obama and was a “template” for the White House’s own national program.
"I mean, quite seriously. It was a template, apart from all the jokes," Axelrod, who has repeatedly talked up Romney’s plan, said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
Egged on by the show's hosts, he called Romneycare – which mandates that individuals have health care coverage, like Obama’s plan – is something Romney should embrace.
"People in the state like it, and he ought to be proud of it, and he ought to embrace it. And one day, I think he will," the former White House senior adviser said. “That work inspired our own health care plan.”

Romney and Huntsman are discovering what happens when you "reach across the aisle" and collaborate with the cynics of the Democrat Party.
It's like our guys had never heard of the term "useful idiot."
Bob Packwood was a proponent of women's rights - until the Democrats decided they could get his Senate seat. Then his "progressive" views and bi-partisanship took second place to slandering him as a chauvinist.
Mark Foley did nothing wrong; but Democrats decided they could use his homosexuality to their advantage, so they did. Gay may be good, but power is better. Too bad, Mark.
Republicans: Don't reach across the aisle to "get things done." Make Democrats crawl across the aisle.
I hope that nice Doctor Coburn from Oklahoma is paying attention. The Democrats would just love to have his Senate seat, too.

Yeah, it’s funny, all right, and yeah, a bit of schadenfreude to boot, but I believe it will stick – and be magnified in an election campaign. After all, what was the stimulus for the political reversals of the past year if it wasn’t Obamacare? And aren’t Axelrod’s comments plausible; isn’t Romneycare just Obamacarelite?
Romney’s a good man, and he’s unquestionably got business savvy, but he won’t get the independent vote because of Romneycare, and, regrettably, his religion will certainly have an effect at the polls. Be offended by that surmise if you like, but it cannot be ignored.
Romney for Scy of the Treasury, Romney for Chief Economic Advisor, Romney in any position in which his expertise and substantial talents would make him effective in government, but as a POTUS candidate, I don’t think he’s electable.
Republicans have a deep candidate bench. Shame if our campaign efforts diminished by primary infighting. This is one election where the decision of who to nominate will have to be made early-on; Obama doesn’t need us to do his groundwork for him, by running off independents.
But, I might be wrong…

Axelrod is lying. Not sure why exactly. Maybe he hates Romney.
Obamacare may have ended up looking like Romneycare, but it is certainly not what Obama, Pelosi, and Reid wanted or what they had in mind when they started the process a year before they finally rammed it down America's collective throat. It was the only thing they could manage to pass against all opposition, including within their own party.

Axelrod is doing his best to paint ObamaCare bi-partisan as the election season comes closer, to make the case that the resistance is pure partisanship. They will speak glowingly of Massachusetts, where prices have soared and federal dollars are being used to minimize the crisis. The Massachusetts State Treasurer 2003-2011, Tim Cahill, tells a different story on MSNBC here. CNN Money has a few choice words for the track record here. The upshot is that it is a money guzzling, consumption enabling, doctor damaging, one size fits all death bureaucracy.
The Clintons were confronted with the fact that the mandate would be a massive redistribution of wealth from the poor but healthy young to the old but far wealthier at a moment when the polls were finely balanced, and decided not to die on that hill. Romney unwittingly destroyed his Presidential aspirations on that hill, and Obama, standing on the same hill, is unlikely to see re-election. With the guff Bill Clinton was giving the Regime on drilling, there may even be a Clinton primary challenge. It's a better option than serving as SecState under this foreign policy for another 665 days.

The Obamistas know that, at least among Republicans, Obamacare is poison, so they're trying to torpedo the likely Republican front-runner by emphasizing Romneycare's similarity. I hope they succeed. Romney may be the front-runner, but I think he'd be weak in the general election, because he doesn't appear to have any strong beliefs.

Romney is often described as the GOP establishment favorite. I know many will dispute that, but if it's true, doesn't that say volumes?
