New Year's Day Blogging from Legoland, U.S.A.
My family and I are in the middle of a mini-vacation in Carlsbad California, home of the Legoland theme park. The picture at the right is of my family and me inside Legoland, standing in front of a replica of New York City. The entire replica is made of of Legos. Each of the tall buildings contains more than 100,000 Legos. Most interesting, the replica already contains the Freedom Tower, even though the real one has not yet been built.
Although very crowded yesterday, the theme park had very few visitors today. It's incredible how fun a theme park is when you never have to wait more than five minutes for a ride. A lesson I learned today is that on the biggest hangover day of the year, people tend to avoid places with lots of make-you-dizzy type rides. The
lower picture is one of my wife, son, and daughter about to ride such a make-you-dizzy type ride. "Legoland's the funnest place I've ever been to," said my four-year-old son.

This looks awesome. I played with Legos for a solid 15 years and would still do it if I could. In fact, I can't wait for my girls to get old enough to get into them. My brother's girls have built large Star Wars empires of Legos. I would have loved those when I was a kid.
Also, your family is lovely!

While I am a die hard Disney-o-phile and love Disneyland. My wife and I took our daughters to Legoland last year and it was a wonderful experience. It is a great park that is perfect if you have children within the 3 to 10 age group. It is also great if you love Legos...which if my closet is any evidence...I have been a fan of for as long as I have loved Disney.

Tim, I am about about a decade ahead of you. Our pilgrimage to Legoland took place in 2002. It's a great place.
Our usual New Year's Day activity is to get up early for skiing. No lift lines. Guaranteed.

Legoland is wonderful for kids under ten. I've been twice—once well before kids to admire the cityscapes. Highly recommended.
