Did you ever wonder what conversations between the Hemingways were like? No, you didn't? Well, we taped one for you anyway. Yes, it's the inaugural Mr. & Mrs. Hemingway podcast you've all been clamoring for! Mark swears our relationship is more than a "dyspeptic Punch and Judy routine," but tune in and judge for yourself!

We discuss President Obama's excellent few weeks, including reasons why his campaign might be struggling.

We wonder if the media -- unable to get their legs all a-tingly over Obama this time around -- are projecting their passion in a new direction (against the Roman Catholic Church).

We go on to discuss how becoming parents has made us more judgmental.

And, as a special bonus, we reveal that cannibals have strained our marriage. We picked the wrong week to stop sniffing bath salts.

Note from the Blue Yeti: This debut episode of The Hemingways is free (Ricochet Podcast subscribers, you'll get this automagically), but if you want to hang out with America's coolest couple in the future, you have to be member. Join today!

Wow, I'm totally excited about this! Among other reasons, because Mr and Mrs Lu have also found cannibalism to be a contentious topic, and I'm interested to hear whether the reasons are the same.

Re: Romney

The Romney campaign, intentional or not, was extremely successful at getting under Newt Gingrich's skin. It was the beginning of the end for Gingrich. He took the bait, couldn't help himself, and lost his way. I'm a little skeptical that Romney is brave enough to give Obama the same treatment, but it would work just as well. Obama is thin-skinned and full of himself--the perfect target for ridicule. You just have to set him off. Is Romney willing to play hardball with Obama, and be called names? We'll see. McCain wasn't.

Awesome. It sounds like a great new podcast... even though I'm hopelessly behind on the main podcast.

What's all this talk about cannabis straining your marriage?   The couple that smokes together wokes together.  In this modern life of stress, shouldn't a little harmless chemical experimentation be a tonic for the bustle of everyday life and those little strains that can come between tow loving spouses (What, you said cannibals?  Nevermind.)

I  love this podcast.

But I preferred my suggested title: "The Hemingway's Fight of the Week."

Yes, well now that we've mastered the technical stuff, I'm sure we'll have more fun with it in the future. But thank you!

Of course, if I heard correctly, you've both committed yourselves to produce a fight for every podcast.

I don't know. That might come in handy.

I'm glad I got to eavesdrop at the table as you two enjoyed talking about the week. I try not to talk to my wife about cannibalism. The idea of people eating other people makes her ill. Unfortunately, we have become a nation of voyeurs, where we not only have the right to know the news, we also demand to see it happening. Ugh.

I haven't had a chance to listen, but if "Edgy" isn't in the title, then Mollie's not in it.

Interesting stuff, however there are two things you need to work on.  Um, ah, um pounding the table next to the mic, and ah um ah saying "um" every few seconds.  Tough to do (I know from experience), but if you succeed it will go a long way towards helping us ADHD types focus on the podcast instead of counting the "ums" and table pounds.

This was great. Thank u

Enjoyed the podcast.  Really excellent stuff and easy to listen to because you guys have great chemistry. Being married helps with that, I guess.

And I just love Mollie's speaking voice.

Randykat, the suits at Ricochet were warned about this -- yes, I have a problem. If I could go to verbal tics anonymous I would. I'll do what I can, short of scoring some black market Adderall.

Can it be a real podcast if it can't be downloaded as an MP3 file?  (That's a rhetorical question.)

Gee I thought I actual sat in on a conversation between the Hemingways' at the local DC Ricochet watering hole (Kilroy's).  I'll have to compare this podcast to the live discourse when I get the chance to listen tomorrow....
