NYC Meetup with Paul Rahe
Paul Rahe came to New York last week, and was given a rock-star greeting by the assembled Ricoteers. Paul held forth in great style, while all around him, conversations veered from presidential politics, to Supreme Court decisions, to culture wars, to . . . .Swedish history (well, that was what I talked about).
Here are some photos taken by our unofficial ringleader: member PJS, who continues to be the hardest working woman in Rico-business. I'm afraid I've now forgotten the user names of many of the participants - so please identify yourself in the comments. I know we had Kate in NYC, Not JMR, Edward Smith, Michael Labeit, Albert Arthur, as well as his wife (whose user name I keep forgetting - sorry), and "Captain Spaulding's" wife (again, user name eludes me).

I think there were about 8 people I didn't even get to talk to so let's do this again soon!

Re: NYC Meetup with Paul Rahe
Just wanted to say that I regret being able to meet one of the true luminaries out there. Next time? Or maybe I'll fly to MI and take a detour from visiting my aunt and uncle...

Speaking of pictures, how about that sharp new portrait of Adam attached to his posts? May we assume it appears on the jacket of his book?

Being behind the camera I am not in the pictures. Waiting for a few pix from RedRules, who is vacationing. Dr. Rahe looked and sounded great. You would never know he had been back and forth to NIH for various surgeries within the last couple of weeks. And he is truly one of the nicest guys ever.
I love the new bar space in the Grand Hyatt. That long white bar table is perfect for groups like us! And the bar food was quite tasty! Maybe we should just make it our default Manhattan location.

You were missed!
Re: NYC Meetup with Paul Rahe
Right you are, Captain. So sorry you couldn't make it, but you were well represented!
Re: NYC Meetup with Paul Rahe
Wait - were you the one who got me talking about the good ship Vasa?

Re: NYC Meetup with Paul Rahe
I was there as well, in the bottom two photos. I don't really post, just enjoy reading others but I was given some encouragement to perhaps write about art (I'm a portrait and landscape painter). I had a great time and the level of intelligence there was intimidating. Special mention to Guru for hire, Skarv, and Michael Leabeit. There should be another as it is impossible to get around to talk to everyone, I'm sure I missed some great people.

Wow, great turnout especially considering the short notice! Looks like it was a fun time.
I love looking at photos from various Ricochet meetups because depending on what part of the country they're in, they look so different. This one looked very posh.

Re: NYC Meetup with Paul Rahe
I was very pleased to be able to be a part of such a collection of people. The turnout was about twice what I had anticipated, and I was only able to interact with half the group. Time flew by as our conversation ranged far and wide, but it never dragged.
I got a few snaps with my little point-n-shoot, but they are fairly substandard. I think we should do it again next month so I can have another go at it! I'll send them along to be posted this evening.
