Most Unexpected Good News Ever
Just when I was on the verge of complete despair about the prospect of books ever meaning anything again--mostly because I haven't been able to earn a living by writing them, an admittedly solipsistic point of view--I received an e-mail from my publisher asking if I'd write a new introduction for a new edition of my book about Margaret Thatcher. Why? Because Meryl Streep is about to make her popular.
She asked me to deliver it in a week's time. And I will, because there is no alternative.

Re: Most Unexpected Good News Ever
I read TINA after your UncKndg interview; maybe you could post the new introduction here for the benefit of all us early adopters.
Judging from recent buzz, about the movie, TINA isn't going to be mentioned prominently in the studio press packet. But don't think you are in the awkward position of having a financial stake in the success of a distasteful entertainment. Any sales as a result of the movie are your compensation for providing an antidote. Maybe the new edition could be retitled "This Is the Alternative".

Re: Most Unexpected Good News Ever
Do an autograph deal on the new edition and I might buy a second copy.

Doctor Bean: My wife and I both loved "There Is No Alternative". It was informative without being a slog to read. We are hopeful to thrust our copy before you and beg for an autograph. I wish you much continued success.
