Most Irrelevant Presidential Speculation ... Ever?

From Politico:
Don’t count him out yet: Former New York Gov. George Pataki said Tuesday he'll make a decision about getting into the 2012 presidential race in the next month during a swing through New Hampshire to talk about the national debt.
Because the GOP is crying out for a long-retired moderate northeastern governor to storm the field. Perhaps Mr. Pataki has cancelled his newspaper subscriptions?
Seriously, Governor, do your party a favor and sign up to take on either Kirsten Gillibrand or the back nine on your nearest golf course.

As much as Obama has lowered the bar, we still aren't ready to settle for a Pataki/Whitman ticket just yet.

Wow, I've never before seen this much concentrated snarky haterage on Ricochet. I'm not sayin' anything here, just sayin'.
If Giuliani is perceived to be low on forward motion as he's been out of the spotlight since 2008, then Pataki must be at a dead standstill, not being involved in NY politics since well before 2008 and never garnering a strong national profile. I don't even think he would be a strong Senatorial candidate, certainly not as strong as Giuliani.
I never imagined that Mitch Daniels dropping out of the race would cause this kind of avalanche of prospective candidates to start crawling out of the woodwork. I guess it reveals that Daniels was considered a presumptive Presidential nominee, no matter how much fundraising Romney was doing or how much bombast was coming out of the likes of Gingrich, Trump and Palin.
