Re: Morning Zingers
I strongly recommend Jonah Goldberg's "Vision" piece.
But it puts me in mind of a discussion I would like to see the Ricochet luminaries take up: Are conservatives too damn negative?
If you look across the site, even the funny light-hearted topics are kvetches. And now there is even a lively discussion of the End of Days.
On the podcast two weeks ago, Tucker Carlson suggested that conservatism was fundamentally about reaction to unwarranted, ill-advised change. Surely that describes some group. But then Peter aptly noted at another point that Reagan had a wholly optimistic vision which kept him at the cutting edge of media.
I don't see much that's optimistic coming from Team R these days. Isn't the real path toward winning back the country not complaining about Big Government, but in describing a compelling vision for Small Government. How do we (or is it even desirable) to take back the phrase, "Yes we can!"
