Below, Troy has a nice take on how Romney ought to be talking about Bain. But what if he pivoted completely to change his whole pitch -- without flip-flopping?

There’s a new campaign logic hiding in plain sight, just waiting for Romney to pick it up and run it to the end zone. It draws a sharp, damaging contrast with Barack Obama. It appeals to conservatives at the level of first principles and contemporary concerns. And it does all this without rehashing past Republican glories in a way that seems stale, rote or uninspired.

Call it Mitt vs. the Tyrant -- and read the whole thing here.

As if conservatives are fools easily swayed by poor arguments.

All I have to do is look at Mitt Romney's record and I'll be swayed right back into not voting for him.

Romney just has to remind people that the only folks that a President of the United States can fire are people that work for the federal government. Will voters in the private sector shed any tears over that? I don't think so. The difference between Romney and Obama is that Romney won't start (and end) his layoffs with the military.

A campaign against an Imperial presidency would certainly appeal to me though I have doubts about Romney being capable of either buying or selling it.

If done properly it would motivate a conservative base, possibly most of the tea party, but would probably alienate a powerful part of the Republican Party, particularly professional politicians.

It would frighten the dependent class and in this respect Obama is probably the best incumbent to run such a campaign against because it should be possible to draw attention to his record of failure and his anti-patriotism.

It's a pity the term "voodoo economics" has already been used because it is Obama's economy that is dominated by zombies.

I think conservatives are more susceptible to poor arguments than many believe. Look at the attacks on Romney's work with Bain. I hope the Romney campaign sees this and, especially, uses the Lex Luthor line. That's brilliant James.

Wow James. I do believe I like that as much or more than Troy's excellent speech. It may not come naturally to him but it can be devastating and would put him squarely on the defensive.

There's yer problem. It does not come naturally to Romney.

Sorry, but I have to go with a full throated meh. One has to either really believe those things in his heart of hearts or be a very good salesman. I don't think Mitt hits either wicket.
