Michele Bachmann, Stealing Sarah Palin's Style?
In a recent interview to promote her new book, Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol had a few sassy words to say about presidential candidate Michele Bachmann's fashion style.
"I think she dresses a lot like my mom," Bristol tells me. "But a lot, a lot of women have done that the last few years. I do think it's odd, you know, seeing people with red blazers with their hair up with glasses."
Bristol added a giggle before continuing her thought about Bachmann, a Congresswoman from Minnessota. "I don't know if she's wearing glasses but you want to be hummmm, do you think that people don't notice you're dressing like my mom?"
Whether Michele is indeed imitating Sarah's style --and moreover, whether that's in any way noteworthy-- is a tough call, but that Bristol Palin aspires to Meghan McCain's vapid, catty style of punditry is readily apparent.

I want to be hummmm, do you think people don't notice that you're only relevant because of your mom?

Must be a really slow news day.

Too much heated discussion about Gay Marriage and ID/ToE around here lately. We need to get back to important discussions about private citizens from Alaska, and their non-entity kids.

Although I am kinda curious to see where Kenneth goes with this one..

But it's not catty and vapid (but instead serious and high-minded) to "report" this trivia?
How about if we look at what the candidates actually say? From Ms. Bachmann:
Bachmann Won’t Give Press ‘Mud Wrestling Fight’ with Palin
June 29, 2011 11:15 A.M. By Katrina Trinko
In response to a question from a voter about Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann said, according to CNN, “They [the media] want to see two girls come together and have a mud wrestling fight, and I am not going to give that to them.”
How could she be so foolish and tone-deaf as to even raise this image in her public comments?

I always liked Bristol. She seemed sweet, if a bit ditzy. But this completely turns me off, especially since it's all geared to selling books.

Re: Michele Bachmann, Stealing Sarah Palin's Style?
The main reason I want Sarah to go away is so that Bristol will go away.
Right now, I'm very, very grumpy because, despite my best effort to ignore the little strumpet, anecdotal information about her night of passion with Levi Johnston has somehow leaked into my consciousness.
My consciousness is polluted enough without knowing that she forgot to fasten her chubby knees because Levi had plied her with Boone's Farm.
Re: Michele Bachmann, Stealing Sarah Palin's Style?
In trying to think of a child of a politician that has turned out to be a decent pundit, or who at the very least has had interesting and relevant things to say, I'm coming up short. I suppose Michael Reagan does alright, and he's a likeable fellow. Anyone else?

You know, I've noticed all the male candidates are dressing like Mitt Romney: collared shirts, slacks, dark neutral suit jackets, ties. Embarrassing.

In my humble opinion both Bachman and Palin suffer from the exact same "fault"
They are both so damn good-looking.. no woman who looks that "gorgeous" can possibly have any brains whatsoever

Mitt oughtta show up in a wife-beater. With his pants on the ground.

Re: Michele Bachmann, Stealing Sarah Palin's Style?
She is silly and immature and I don't know why any serious news organization would take her political comments seriously except for the purpose of trying to stir up a supposed feud between her mother and Bachmann. I wonder this about most of the celebrity political opinions that I hear. Perhaps in another ten years or so Bristol will be worth listening to. Then again, maybe not.

Her poll numbers would probably go up significantly with certain demographics if she would.

I have a question:
How does this missive square with your attitude that it's wrong to call homosexual activity sinful?

You're missing something important: Bristol Palin isn't claiming to be or aspiring to be a pundit. Meghan McCain asks to be taken seriously as a political commentator, analyst and strategist. So far as I am aware, Bristol Palin simply asks people to buy her book.

Re: Michele Bachmann, Stealing Sarah Palin's Style?
I watched part of one of her book selling interviews on television and I thought Bristol has come a long way baby. She seems more put together, publicly articulate and comfortable with herself in front of the camera on national television. Not too bad for a teen aged mom.
Of course the Palin family will be with us forever. America has a love/hate relationship or is it foreplay?
The one to watch is Piper, that is beside her mom.

I don't care about sinful. I care about distasteful. Keep it to yourself, chubette.
