Marco Rubio Tells it Like it Is

I've had my doubts about Marco Rubio, but this is magnificent.
“It’s class warfare, and it’s the kind of language that you would expect from the leader of a third world country, not the President of the United States.”
Good stuff.

He's great. Why did he decide not to run for CinC?

Re: Marco Rubio Tells it Like it Is
Yes, it is. Now please, leave him alone and out of your calculations for national politics. We desperately need some sanity representing Florida in the Senate, given that we are saddled with Nelson and the Bushes inflicted Martinez on us, then Crist gave us Lemieux.
Find your national tid-bits elsewhere and allow Florida to recover for a bit. It took a hell of a lot to get hm elected, down here, going against the Republican machine, and we don't want to lose him now that he's there. We really do need it and Rubio will probably be there for you in a few years, when we need to bring in a relief pitcher on the national ticket.

BTW, given his background, you know who is his model for "third-world leader" don't you?

But why couldn't the Republican governor appoint Allen West to take his place if he's picked for the VP slot? I think that's a very workable scenario.

...or even have Jeb Bush take Rubio's place if Rubio is picked for VP? Keep in mind, that if for some outrageously, bizarre reason the Republican ticket loses, Rubio still retains his Senate seat.

Re: Marco Rubio Tells it Like it Is
For someone, who in my mind is a moderate like GW but more conservative on fiscal issues. I do love to here him speak and he is passionate and really is in office because he believe in America. He was highly successful with his agenda when he was speaker of the house in Florida. That is primarily why I voted for him in the primaries. I don't agree with the progress administrative tilt he has along with two thirds of republican senators. However, he is a great statesman who is honest and that is worth a lot more than most issues. Even when I disagree with him he seems to be a true believer in his positions (state funding for people with disability for one) so I can have some respect even if I see the harm the positions cause.
I wish people would stop mentioning Jeb Bush. I like the guy and he is the most conservative Bush. However, unless his wife has a coming to Jesus about being in the political limelight, he is not going to run for public office again. Jeb's problem is his family if he were to run for president not himself.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Brian re: Columba Bush. She really is a millstone, and although we chose to ignore her here in Florida during Jeb's gubernatorial years, I doubt he could survive a national run with that kind of baggage.
But, as for George P.....

Well, to be clear, I wasn't mentioning Jeb for a national campaign or run to assume Rubio's senate seat. All he needs to do is fill it and serve out Rubio's term...then he can either retire when the term is up or if he's done an admirable job he could convince Floridians that he should continue. There wouldn't have to be a campaign to assume the seat. And my first choice would still be West.

Just for the record, I do think this is a creative idea. :-)

My point is from what media reports I have been able to garner over the years. His wife pretty much has put her foot down at being a politician's wife. Unless they get divorced or she changes her mind I doubt he is going to be accepting any political appointments or offices.

Actually, Brian C, my beef with Columba is not with the lack of political drive, but with some of her personal decisions. Customs declarations, would be one.

Re: Marco Rubio Tells it Like it Is
You can tell from the way he speaks (fast and yet articulate) that Mr. Rubio has that rare combination of a mind that is both quick and deep. The man will slash his opponents like a human rapier in a debate. Wouldn't you like to see him against Slow Joe Biden just for the spectacle? I'm cruel, I know. It's not nice to make fun of disabled people.
