Man, Meet Moment: Chris Christie, National Figure

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, one of the GOP's most-sought after stars following his 2009 victory, is hitting the road to unveil a string of endorsements in the coming weeks[.]
As a rule, I'm not in favor of rushing local stars into the national limelight -- even ones with experience in Washington (cough, Jindal). But this is great.

He is exceptional, even charismatic. The odd thing is many 'progressives' like him a lot. Every time he does Morning Joe on MSNBC he gets a warm - even glowing - reception; which makes me suspicious. Still, there's nothing I've heard him say that isn't solidly conservative and based on reality and logic.

Agreed... with both points. What plays well in New Jersey, within their particular context, may not work elsewhere, but then we really need some new faces and new voices out there, so it's smart to get him out and about.
And I'd rather feature dynamic governors than the usual talking heads from the Senate.

I like that Gov. Christie doesn't back down from a fight. He sticks to his guns when it comes to what he knows is right. Corruption, unions, and budgets don't scare him off. I'm glad he's getting more national exposure. However, this seems to me like he's being put out there for something down the road, and that can backfire.
The more prudent track, to me, would be to let him be Governor for awhile before setting him on a pedestal.
